A solid Devils team in a groove

0-4 streak followed by a 4-0 streak - Dr Jekyll or Mr Hyde?

As I cried for a sniper last week the Devils score 5 or more goals in 3 of last four in the streak. (yes you heard right) Did we get the sniper in Zubrus? As he scored 4 goals... in one game! Wishful thinking.
We do have a superstar in our hands. His name is Zach Parise.

I will tell you something, after an initial shock of Marty out for a while the Devils have stepped up as a whole - as a team.

Many players leading by example. Parise obviously but Elias I think has matured into a great all-around player. As I said before, at the expnse of some scoring. Elias and Pandolfo are the old time Devs Vets now.
Paul Martin I still believe will develop and mature into his game.

Madden -3 and Salvador -5 is surprising.
So is Parise +12 and Zajac +10.

I am really looking forward to see a healthy Devils team minus Marty as we know he will be out for a while. Brodeur hasnt missed this many games in the last 14 seasons...in total.

Rolston, Holik, Greene - No hurry to get them back. Wait till the All-Star break if there is any doubt.

This quote by Coach Sutter really describes the team;
"We're playing hockey. It's going from our dressing room right onto the ice," ..."We're getting contributions from everybody and we're playing a solid team game."

I think this is the year Lou Lamoriello will show, yet again, why he is the best in the business. In Lou We Trust.

And, yes, the 43 year old Claude Lemieux is for real in his NHL comeback attempt. He signed wit San Jose's AHL Worcester. Good luck to him, it would be cool seeing him step into the NHL again.

Food for thought...
I am thinking of doing a "behind the scenes" type interviews with people involved with hockey and the NHL, not necessarily a player. Agents, mascots, attorneys, marketing, etc. If you have any ideas shoot me an email.

Truly yours,
The Devils Advocate
