Cap Updates [Part I]

In honor of last night's 2nd star according to NHL.com [if we had a picture of Alexandre Burrows, I would have used it], here's an update on things:

1. I'm still updating things trying to get each team's cap situation nailed down right now, so I'll have another entry shortly - but I'm closer to finally being on track. Suffice it to say, there will be a long explanation required for part of it.
2. Six teams are definitely using LTIR; those teams are Anaheim, Calgary, Dallas, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Washington. I suspect that St. Louis is also using LTIR, but I haven't confirmed it [yet]. Chicago is not using LTIR just yet, but with a roster move they could put James Wisniewski on LTIR. Pittsburgh is also not using LTIR yet, but again - with a roster move, they could be.
3. Only five (5) teams sit under the league midpoint of $48.7 million: Atlanta, Los Angeles, Nashville, Phoenix, and Vancouver. Toronto is just over the midpoint at $49,066,411.
4. If you thought making trades has been difficult in past years, this year may require GM's to literally jump through hoops and stand on their heads to get some things done.

As mentioned last time, until I get Cap Central configured correctly [and with information I've got, it'll mean even more work this weekend] I'm keeping each team's cap situation tracked over at NHLSCAP.

I'll have an update to this shortly in a new entry.
