After 3 years of working to create the most accurate source of salary and cap information for the NHL, I've been asked to bring my work over to Hockeybuzz.com - and based on what we've accomplished so far, I'm excited about the future of things here.

From time to time, I'll use this space to answer some common questions regarding the cap and attempt to clear up some common misconceptions; I'll also opine about what everyone can expect going forward, and provide some insight that maybe not everyone thought about. Thus far, we've already seen a shift in how some teams are approaching the cap and the word "buyout" isn't just a dirty word - it's a real option that teams are increasingly using to give themselves flexibility for the current and future years, and I expect we'll see a few more before the summer is over. It'll be interesting to see how teams chase free agents and whether they're willing to swap cap flexibility down the road for getting that guy they really want now.

I'm looking forward to contributing to the site and continuing to provide the most complete and accurate information on the salary cap that's available anywhere.
