TSN is reporting that the Flyers have agreed to a three year extension with Jeff Carter...looking into it.

A source contacted me today and told me that despite the Russian rumours, the NY Rangers may indeed be closing in on a long term deal.

Listen to the RUMOURCAST at 3pm live where you can call and talk to me:

The Hockey Buzzcast with Julie and I at 4pm..

From Earlier....

The Ducks have placed Bertuzzi on waivers, The Leafs have bought out Raycroft, and the Isles have put Shawn Bates on waivers...

The Calgary Flames waived three players yesterday...they have cleared today.

As for Warrener, I am hearing the Flyers, Sabres, Sharks, and Senators all have interest.

The decision to waive these three on the same day you could begin talking to RFAs really has gotten the rumour mill going... The main two names associated with Calgary talking to folks today are Jay Bouwmeester and Mike Green.

The Oilers are also believed to be working up major offer sheets for these two. I am very curious to see exactly how this plays out. The Oilers also are said to have interest in Koistinen and Vermette.

Meanwhile the Lightning and the Wild are two teams to look to when it comes to MAJOR UFA and RFA offers. Darcy Tucker and Brooks Orpik are both STRONGLY rumoured to Tampa by my sources. Makes sense given that both are definitely Melrose type players and Tucker's former agent, Brian Lawton is now working in Tampa.

Btw, I was really impressed with a recent interview I heard from Lawton on Xm..

Another team that may surprise us is the Nashville Predators. The Preds also have interest in Vermette and Ryan Clowe.

The Sabres are EXTREMELY serious about Rolston...(e4)

The Blues are a team that looks to be going the trade route and also may sit back and wait for the dust to settle a bit on the markets. Although this is frustrating to fans, this is actually a REALLY strong philosophy. The theory is the top guys are all over priced and let teams eat up their cap space so that there are less teams looking at some of the solid tier 2 and 3 players. This is an example of how the Predators landed Dumont. It can really be effective because the way this works is the stars get their money, the rookies get their money, the role players get their money but the line 2 and line 3 guys get squeezed.

I will be back early this afternoon. At 2pm I am going to try something a little different..so look for that in a new blog.

I am going to do the RUMOURCAST at 3pm today and of course the Hockeybuzzcast will be at 4pm. For both shows I will be taking calls and answering questions from the Hockeybuzz Chat Room.

We have a major announcement coming early next week as we add a new feature to the site....(just a teaser!)
