Last week the Devils signed Finnish defenseman Anssi Salmela to his first contract.

The Devils addressed the need of a scoring dman by adding the 23 year old who lead the Finnish league in goal scoring with 16 and added another 16 assists playing every game for his club Tappara, a career year.

At 5’11’, 190 lbs and a left handed shot he will be given a chance to crack the Devils lineup come training camp. Not afraid to drop the gloves, Salmela came out on the losing end of a fight against David Backes in the IIHF game where Finland beat the US 3-2.

Lou Lamoriello still focusing on the D with his third signing of the off-season, Mottau and Brookbank the others.

Lamoriello has also spoken to the agent of Bryce Salvador who, according to my sources, is leaning towards testing free agency even though he has not yet ruled out coming back to New Jersey.

Truly yours,

Food for Thought...

According to reports winger Miro Satan will not return to the Islanders. It has been rumored that Lamoriello has inquired about the enigmatic winger in the past.
What do you think of "Satan" on the back of a Devils jersey? It would be a good marketing tool at least...
