Ron Wilson Let Go...

You hate to see a good guy lose his job. Wilson is a good guy to deal with.

Cheers,

Ek

FLYERS MALKIN-TENT

The Flyers ask league to look at Malkin hit on Briere last night. The hit happened away from the play and along the near boards to me last night, but I talked to a few people today who said they felt it should have been a match penalty. I only saw Briere getting up slowly.

At the same time, Therien was upset with some hits on Ruutu.

This is pretty much the gamesmanship that we come to expect when the playoffs hit May.

COBURN SWELL

There were some whacky rumours out there today that Coburn was suffering concussion-like symptoms. I even read that Coburn was throwing up on the trip back to Philly.

"Not true," I am told by a source within the Flyers organization,"It is only a swelling issue."

EJ AOK

It was confirmed to me that Coburn will wear a cage if he plays hats off to our new Flyers writer EJ Russell for breaking that news earlier today. EJ has been working at Hockeybuzz for three years as a researcher for me and as a field reporter covering major NHL events for the site. Although you have never seen anything under his name you have seen plenty of his work throughout my blogs. EJ was also responsible for much of what went on Flyersbuzz TV.

EJ has agreed to now write a column on the left hand side as the Flyers run continues to compliment Bill Meltzer's excellent work in the middle column.

You can see EJ's first article HERE. It's a good one. Join me in welcoming him to the Hockeybuzz written world.

from earlier today...

ERAT RETURNING

Great signing: Erat 7 years/31.5 million...now Weber, Ellis and Suter remain un-signed.

HEY GUYS, PICK ME!

Yes indeed my friends, Yashin is apparently ready to get back into the NHL, and according to his agent there were teams who expressed interest last season....(but I guess he would have had to take less money then before...soooooo...)

As I put together more rumours, here's a review of the weekend in rumours that was..

JAY B to T-Town?

According to a solid source the Leafs have plans on three RFA's they are considering tendering offer sheets to this summer. However I am told they will not "likely" put an offer sheet together for anyone whose compensation would risk the #1 pick that could be John Tavares.

"Likely?" I asked. I cant imagine the Leafs would do that at all, but my source said that certain people in the Leafs organization would possibly consider putting the #1 pick at risk because as he put it, "MLSE does not see the Leafs finishing 30th next year."

Of the three players, the only one I could get "On-The-Record" was Jay Bouwmeester. Jay is an absolute stud of a d-man that would be the perfect fit for the Leafs.

My source told me, "Backroom talks have been ongoing since March to put together a blockbuster deal that would land Jay in Toronto and some VERY good young talent in Florida."

Also, I have

Redden to Buffalo or Edmonton

At one point this would have seen as unlikely as almost any pairing given these teams history in the playoffs, but a source is telling me this morning that the Sabres have interest, while another source tells me the Oilers, who have courted Wade for years, are also very much in the mix...I will keep up with this one today.

The Senators looking at Ellis as well as Theodore

It is pretty obvious that the Senators have interest in bringing in a new number one. Earlier this week it leaked out to me that Theodore was considering Ottawa as a next destination, now I am hearing Dan Ellis may be a target.

Canucks and Devils Talking Again

Vancouver and NJ have been doing this dance for an entire year now. Gionta is the target now and the Devils like a few of the d-men in Vancouver.

Emery in DC?

I continue to say that Huet came far too cheaply to assume that re-signing in Washington was a given. I have heard that Montreal was tipped that Huet's price would be too high for them, and it may be for the Caps as well. And then late last night I was informed that Emery to Washington is a possibility.
