I am told that Waddell is in Tampa tonight. The Hossa rumours have been rampant. Everything from "Hossa to Montreal being a strong certainty" to the "Two teams haven't spoken" is out there, but the one thing that seams to make the most sense and almost everyone can agree to is that the Habs are the favorites to land Hossa should he be moved.
As a conservative source that I trust told me towards the end of the week, "They (Waddell and Gainey) haven't discussed it formally yet, but there is a fit there and it could happen."
I believe Don Waddell will only make this move if he gets a player that can help the Thrashers get into the playoffs this year. It is wide open, and Carolina essentially has enter seller mode FAR earlier than any of the teams in the Southeast anticipated. Waddell needs a conclusion to this saga, and fast. The distraction has to be growing and any points lost in the next 14 days are crucial...
This deadline was really drifting like a piece of wood on calm sees until Bryan Murray yesterday made some waves.
For Montreal and Gainey it meant now you have to improve your team to compete. For Don Waddell and the Thrashers it meant that the division will come down to you and the Caps. For Philly it meant trying to look for something faster from Forsberg.
