Yes, from the week that brought you Sundin likely being a rental (even though he will be every bit the Leafs Captain until the very second it happens), the first ever (albeit WAY over-hyped) inevitable Ovechkin trade rumour, and name calling galore (btw, I turn 40 Saturday, have a wife, two kids, and a dog named after former stay at home d-man Adam Burt...sticks and stones Gord, sticks and stones)....comes the news that Marian Hossa, arguably one of the top 7 most talented players in the game, is likely going to thrash elsewhere.

Yes Melissa, Hossa talks are going nowhere fast. In fact, according to sources the two sides have met several times and not really gotten past "No, how are you doing?"

Indeed it appears to be the case that Hossa may indeed want to test the UFA market this summer, even if that means a return to Atlanta. The Numbers that Hossa can attract will be rather staggering. I have heard in the 7 million per range. But there are not that many teams that can spend that kind of dough this summer. The three teams with the most to spend this summer may surprise you...The Blackhawks, The Blue Jackets, and the NY Rangers. (however you must remember that all three teams have a serious amount of jobs to fill as well)

But "Hossa: The UFA (Coming Summer 2008)" is the highly anticipated sequel to "Hossa: The Playoff Rental". That show is playing now through February 26.

But from all indications Hossa will either re-sign or move elsewhere in January.

Now the question is where is he heading? A few teams that I have heard are Pittsburgh, Detroit, Anaheim and Vancouver. But don't rule out some other teams that you really might not expect. Some teams that were once thought to be sellers.

It will get interesting.

Also. Vancouver is looking like the team that may be most interested in Sundin in the early going. However, do not rule out San Jose I have been told.
