Gameday: Oilers in Los Angeles

The Oilers play game #28 tonight against the Kings. Coming into the game, the team has won 4 of its last 5 and they're 7-4-1 since a team meeting held by Head Coach Craig MacTavish in Denver. They try to take the consistency to another level tonight by notching their first 3 game winning streak of the season. They've had 3 previous opportunities to win 3 in a row this season; October 8th ended with a 4-2 loss to Detroit, November 15th a 4-2 loss to Minnesota and most recently November 28th a 4-2 loss to Colorado. Notice a trend? Anybody else feel like taking Los Angeles by a score of 4-2 tonight?

No lineup changes expected tonight...not even in goal. I'm told that Mathieu Garon will get the nod again after posting a shutout last night versus the Ducks. The current plan is to have Dwayne Roloson rested up for Crosby and the Penguins on Wednesday.

One final note...Sam Gagner was not on the 37 man camp roster for the Canadian World Junior team. That does not mean that he won't play, though. Hockey Canada decided to name 37 players not active in the NHL under the assumption that Gagner, Sheppard et al. would not be available. They are, however, continuing discussions with a few teams and managers including the Oilers and Kevin Lowe. Hockey Canada Communications guru Brad Pascall says he figures to have a few more conversations with Kevin over the next week about potentially lending Sam to the Junior program for the tournament in the Czech Republic. The Oilers would have to agree to loan him before the camp starts on December 10th in Calgary in order for him to remain eligible, but it is still a possibility.
