Bad Place to Get Well...

Why do I have the funny feeling that Pred Nation will look back on October as the ultimate decider in the Predator's playoff fate.

Not trying to sound like a "moral victory" kinda guy, but the game against the Ducks was a moral victory for the Preds... they skated hard, they were aggressive and they seemed to right the ship from an effort standpoint.

Last night's 3-0 loss to the Sharks could possibly be classified as the same kind of game. Too bad moral victories don't count in the standings... The issue now isn't effort... the problem now is finishing... for the second consecutive game, the team had multiple scoring opportunities in the first period. For the second consecutive game, open nets were missed, and scoring opportunities were left on the table and the losing streak is at five.

A goal in the first of either game would've given the team a significant confidence boost... and given Chris Mason a much needed shot of support.

Pred Nation is hoping that the team building is working, but the fact is, the turnaround has to come fast... or this team is going to be left in the dust. The grumbling is beginning among the Pred faithful...

Good words from potential new owner Boots DelBiaggio in today's paper... nice to see him spring for dinner with the team Friday night.

Thumbs down to the Tennessean for today's slanted hatchet job on current Preds owner Craig Leipold... I guess the paper would be much happier if Leipold was to lose $30 million more before selling the team...

----------------------

Another thumbs down to the paper's website for their silly countdown gadget on their front page... I kinda like PredJoe's term for it... give 'em a "crotch bang" for this hokey stunt...

High School Hockey is back in Middle Tennessee. GNASH began play over the weekend with 20 teams (up from last year's 19) representing 28 different schools across the region.

I'll be publishing the scores as I get them... I do want to call out one game that I watched on Friday night...

Cogratulations to the Father Ryan Irish Hockey team on their 7-2 win under new head coach Walt Wasylew. The Irish are off to a great start...
