Bill if Shea theodore goes on the market do you see the flyers having any interest? - hello it's me 2050
He could help the PP. He turns 29 in August. Doesn’t seem to fit the Flyers time line. You could get something at the TDL for him but what would you give up to get him?

I’ve heard reports that Flyers are looking for a LHD to pair with Drysdale. One of the names mentioned was Chychrun, so Theodore would align with that same thinking. I would not explore either of those avenues but I get the feeling that with getting closer to the playoffs this season and the potential that Michkov could come over as early as next season, that the “rebuild” ain’t really a thing. My belief is the Flyers brass believe Drysdale is their future #1 so they don’t actually need to draft that guy. At that point, then you wonder, if they give up assets for Theodore, what do they use to acquire the #1C they also desperately need? Well, my gut says the try to make Michkov into a center.
So you’re top 6 becomes:
Foerster/Michkov/TK
Farabee/Frost/Tippet
Top 4 Defense:
Theodore/Drysdale
York/Sanheim
I’ll repeat, this is not my preference, but I can see the Flyers doing this because this is what they always do. |

If this is the route the flyers go DB should be run out of town. They would be a marginal playoff team that may win a round but that’s about it. |

More likely they're looking for a typical big bodied "shutdown" type to pair w/ Drysdale. They could just keep playing Seeler there, tho.
York/Sanheim was out of necessity last season. Torts would give probably give his left nut for somebody like Pesce or Tanev so he can split that pair up. |

Drysdale is NOT a #1. Even if he was skill-wise, he spends way too much time on the IR. But I guess the Flyers have to believe he is their number one since they royally screwed up with Gauthier and were forced to accept pennies on the dollar. |

Flyers are years away. They need to start developing their own Theodores, not acquire them. |

Exactly this!!!
Trading for any player not on a 1 year contract so we could flip at the TDL is a waste of assets.
No theodore, no PLD, no Stamkos, get where this is going?
Trading assets for picks and high end prospects is the only thing we should be doing for the next 3 years.
TK, Laughton, Sanheim just to name a few should be moved either at the draft of TDL.

Samuelsson from Buffalo was a name kicked around on Twitter as someone to trade to pair with Drysdale.
Sanheim should be moved after he had a bounce back season but has a full NTC so unless the Flyers temp him to go home to Calgary or package him with his good friend Konecny, I don’t see him going anywhere. |

The Flyers can't afford to trade for any more injury prone players. Especially if they're giving up guys like Sanheim who almost never miss a game.
How many combined GP will the Flyers get out Ellis, Risto and Drysdale next season? I would guess under 100. |

Ellis is gearing for camp
rr is day to day
drysdale avoided surgery by placing juniper berries on his shoulder on odd number days and hucleberries on even number days |

the league and PA need to fix this where Ellis contract (career ending injuries) doesn't count against the cap instead of waiting for the season to start to put him on that injury list. the whole charade of long-term injury nonsense is just that. |

They could probably get him for cheap. Might be worth the risk depending on the price. Worst case scenario he’s out with injury again, prospect defensemen get more time and the Flyers lose and get a higher draft pick. This team won’t tank on purpose but a rash of injuries can do it by accident. |

I'm not saying they ever will. The whole point is they need to stop wheeling and dealing their way to the postseason. |
