Let’s just fix the 2017 draft. Rasmussen for Necas. |

Just sign them both, pull a vegas and put half the team on IR until playoffs. |

But, but Rasmussen is big. We need size. He was a point per game forward in Tri-City. We think he becomes a dominant 2-way second line center.
Yawn. No recognition that the huge size advantage he had over teenagers would disappear in the NHL. No concerns that his skating was pretty weak. Besides, we know skilled centers like Necas, Nick Suzuki, Robert Thomas are available. But did we mention how big Rasmussen is?
I called that a stupid pick on draft day. I said he probably won't even end up a center and would be nothing more than a 3rd line winger. Bingo. |

Waiting to see what Husso’s surgery recovery timeline is. Unfortunately Lyon also got injured (and Larkin) at world’s. There very well could be some LTIR based on Husso. |

I think Rod The Bod’s going to get another contract year or so. From what folks I know are saying, he’s on a tight leash if he returns….very tight.
I’d jump at Necas, kid’s a stud and has *some* defensive chops. I’m a fan of Pesce, for sure. Would definitely take the defensive heat off Mo Sides. 2 assets that we could use….would be happy with either. Don’t see Rod The Bod hitting the market this year, however…..but IF he does, wouldn’t that be at the end of the Lalonde era? |

My only question about Rod is why would you deal with that when there’s a line of teams that would take you in a second? He’s very faithful to Carolina. My hope is that it would be the end of the LaLonde era if he hit the market. At least find out what’s available |

I mentioned trading for Theadore last thread because of this quote:
"Despite his significant role and impressive performances, the emergence of other talents like Noah Hanifin and Theodore's high market value make him a prime candidate for a trade. "
Seems to make sense. Especially since Noah is almost bullet proof and Theadore has been injured a bit lately. |

He’s failed enough in Carolina. No need to bring him to Detroit to fail. Lalonde was part of those elite Tampa teams. I trust him more. |

I don’t have any appetite to throw LaLonde under a bus. I just feel like Brind’amour brings a different set of skills to the table that could help this team. IF (big if) he’s available it would at least be worth the time (if he was interested) for management to hear his ideas and strategies. Just an opinion |

Unless a team overpays it just doesn’t make sense though. Might as well ride it out and let him walk in a year. Your Walman and Berggren idea makes them worse and saves almost zero cap space. |

Yzerman isn't going to fire Uncle Fester or he would have done so at the end of the season.
Necas was 34% on faceoff wins this season which is horrible. Kuznetsov took more faceoffs than him in 20 games with Carolina so Necas wasn't playing center, he was playing right wing. Pass on him unless they want him as a winger only.
I don't see Yzerman looking for another center unless he can send Copp the other way. Wings should have some options with Kasper and Danielson to call up (if they don't make the team).
Defense is what Yzerman needs to fix ASAP. Holl and Petry need to be gone for the defense to be improved. Pesce, Tanev and maybe Myers might be options. Pesce might price himself out of the Wings price range and number of years he will want will likely be an issue. Zadorov would also be a nice addition but someone else would have to go like Maatta or the guy they signed (Chiarot) instead of who they should have signed (Zadorov). Yzerman has created a dumpster fire defense with signings (Chiarot, Holl) and trades (Petry) that he needs to rectify this summer. The only 2 locks for this defense should be Seider and Edvinsson...everyone else can or should be upgraded if possible.
Improve the defense and goaltending will improve with it. Might also improve the offense when the forwards can get passes on their sticks instead of trying to recover a high flip out of the zone right at the other teams defensemen. |

On draft day, Necas was projected to be a centre. Below is a sample of his draft day analysis. The Wings passed on him, as well as guys like Suzuki and Thomas, because Rasmussen was more of a sure thing to at least be an NHL player. But, if you are sensing a trend, Rasmussen had a pretty low ceiling.
Necas joined a roster that was loaded at centre - Staal, Lindholm, then Aho, Trochek, etc...So it was logical to move to the wing, where he has excelled. Can he transition back to center? Maybe, or maybe it's too late for that and he's better off remaining on the wing. Personally, I expect the asking price to be too high. I'd look elsewhere.
Here is the write-up. He was clearly destined to be a top 6 centre...
Necas has the potential to be a two-way, top six centre at the next level. With his speed and play making ability, as well as his work in his own end, he should be highly sought after on draft day. He will needs some time to continue developing and adding muscle mass, and that could either happen in the Czech Republic next year, or perhaps in the CHL or AHL. In terms of a player comparison, his speed and ability to make plays with the puck is reminiscent of Nathan MacKinnon, of the Colorado Avalanche, but that is a style comparison only, and not one based on skill and ability.

But they would still have to clear space for Marcy's new contract.

If Petry is traded, the Wings can't retain any salary since 2 other teams are already retaining some of his salary. His cap hit is only 2.3 mil for next season then he is off the books.
Holl would need a prospect/pick or to take another contract back to move.
Don't think any team is giving Zadorov 5 mil per...if they do that would be a mistake. |

It’s a massive downgrade though and they are already a team the lacks general depth. |

Sorry kids, we can't have nice things cause the cap was blown on the likes of Petry, Holl, Copp, Chiarot, Rasmussen extension, Fabbri, etc, etc, etc. |

you think they make the playoffs next season? I don't. Not unless they find a new goalie and the defense improves somehow. |

Oh, no way, they should finish just like this season was predicted without Kane's "heroics" that brought 10-12 extra points. |
