Burke said he considered drafting by position, but after our last two top 10s, he needs a sure-thing, and he's going to take the best player available, whomever that might be (Reinhart, Forsberg, Murphy maybe, though doubtful).

Grigorenko does not hail from the "middle of nowhere".

Khabarovsk is the second biggest city in the Russian far east. It has somewhere between 600-700K people. It is also a beautiful city (the downtown core anyway) and has a great Victory Day parade every year (really cool to see the Russian stuff).

Anyway, 'a long way away" is not the same as "middle of nowhere"

He lived outside of the city, from my understanding, though he's listed as being from Khaborovsk. He was a rural kid. The point being, he lived in area that is clouded by a lot of the usual "Russian mystery" and all that junk.

The odds are against you on this one Huddle, but I would love to see it happen. The only reason I would give Burke drafting this kid a tiny smigen of hope goes by the name of Kulemin. I think Grigs next to a fellow Russian and our hardest working player could pay off in spades.

And I personally feel that moving up costs too much.

Let's just sit tight at 5th and hope to god one of either Forsberg or Galy is available at that spot, as I'm not crazy on Grigs, and wouldn't mind teravainen over Grigs or Faksa

I'm praying for Gal or Forsberg but doubt they will be available at 5. Would take Grigs in a heartbeat though over taking a dman.

So ANA's at 6, MIN @ 7.

If we give MIN a call and offer them the chance to draft a Dman before ANA, they might be enticed, as much of the top 12 are Dmen, and MIN may have a one particular guy in mind, like O'reilly.

In that case it might be worth it....MIGHT.

No to Luongo is what I'm saying. He will melt in the Toronto spotlight and pressure and that contract will only haunt the team for years...

I'm looking at 'mynhldraft.com' and actually like the order they're saying, except that if NYI aren't picking a Dman, then they'd take Forsberg over Grigs any day of the week.

They took a centre in Strome last year so they'd take a winger/c over a natural C in Forsberg

Likely needs a year, but could see him in the NHL right away in the right situation. For Toronto they're probably best suited letting him go back as they don't exactly have a spot, atm.
