Eric Smith: 20 NHL Draft Prospects In 20 Days - Malcolm Subban Up until the draft I will be putting out 20 NHL Draft Prospects in 20 days. I will be certain to cover all the top guys but also some players that can be had in later rounds. I will end up with a mock draft the day before the draft.

Goalies remind me a lot of running backs in football. Every year you see teams drafting them in the first round and never pan out yet goalies taken much later rise to the top. Last years Vezina trophy finalists Thomas (9rd) Lundqvist (7rd) Quick (3) Rinne (8rd) and looks to be the same list this year.

Just throwing a few names out there as well Miller (5rd) Kiprosoft (5rd) look at 1994 draft of Voukoun, Nabaokov, and Thomas all in the 9th rd.

SO when you look at first round goalies like Luongo and Fleurey you have a Raask Dipietro Biron Boucher.

Goalies just seem way to much of a crap shoot to give use a first round pick. If Subban has even one negative to speak of him which injury is a big one should push him to the second round if not further. Plus how much better if he even is than Dansk and Vasilevski?

I'm starting to get a little peeved at scouts, who always seem to compare prospects to guys we haven't seen the full upshot of yet. Honestly, a Subban-Price comparison is useless.

Rask is closer to Luongo and Fleury than he is to Biron, Boucher and DP. Rask will get time to start full time in boston.
