I could care less about the actual draft... and more about the trades that will surround it.

I imagine Gillis will most likely be dealing Lu around the draft... and possibly another move. But I guess we will see.

Wes Vannieuwenhuizen- Vancouver, 6"3 210, D
69GP, 3G, 7A, 152PIM

I believe the overeager is still draft eligible, and if he is there late I think he would make an excellent pick. Vannieuwenhuizen is never going to be a star, but I love his character, toughness and leadership qualities. And when you add those qualities with his great name and being a local product, I'd love to see him in Vancouver. He is what the Canucks lack in their system and that is a real junkyard dog type.

NHL Comparison- Matt Carkner

I want this guy to go to Toronto and then watch Cherry have a stroke trying to pronounce his name.

Congrats to Nick Lidstrom on a great career. Made the game look way too easy. Fun to watch even from the bench...

Would Bieksa waive his NTC to play for the Leafs?

Luongo, Bieksa ,and Raymond for Schenn ,Gardiner ,5th overall and Armstrong.

Hopefully Gillis is able acquire a 3rd and 4th rounder via the trade route.

Wouldn't work, the picks have to be your own.

No offense, but Gardiner and the 5th are two very good chips for trade.

With Luongo you're taking a big contract and only getting 3-5 years out of him, along with an older Bieksa and Raymond who isn't necessary. Doesn't make sense from a TO standpoint.

Do you know what does make sense from a TO standpoint? Making the playoffs this year. There is no GM in the league that is under more pressure then Burke right now. I'm not saying that that trade proposal will work but for everyone saying that if Gillis and Burke are talking Luongo and think Luongo will be had for salray dump and a pick are insane. Which GM at the end of the day is under more pressure right now, Gillis or Burke?

No kidding, I think the only way Burke starts talking Gardiner and the 5th overall is if Kesler is involved in the conversation.

Which should not be said...

Yea. I think a deal can be made, and likely will be made between the two teams. But it won't be for huge value for Vancouver or Toronto either way. It'll be a fair deal on either side.

I agree-- but Burke has options, too. He's not gonna be had for Gardiner and a 5th who are valuable pieces and Schenn - who isn't as attractive as he was a year ago, is still a good asset at the moment.

Salary will have to go Vancouver's way. So let's say Armstrong (whom apparently Van asked about at deadline). For 1 year at 3, that's not the worst thing in the world. Add a good chip, but not great, like Kulemin or Franson and to me, that's likely the basis of a deal. Tinkering would have to be done on either side, but it gives a rough idea. Vancouver won't get crap for Luongo, but Toronto isn't handing over it's two young Dmen of the future plus a 5th overall pick.

None taken . So Varlomov can get a first and a second but Luongo can't. 3-5 years of TO making the playoffs, what a novel idea .Three core players from one of the best teams in the league for 2 secondary players and a draft pick on one of the worse teams in the league. This is the reason very few teams trade with TO.

This is why I would like TO to rot at the bottom of the league and go for something bigger with SJ CHI or some team.Last team to deal with TO got hosed (CGY)

I'm with you in regards to Lou's value but these rumors of Lou for Gardiner and the fifth overall are far fetched to say the least.

Peronally I'd be happy with Schenn + minor assets/salary dump.
Schenn is still very rough around the edges and yet manages to be one of the leagues best in the number of overall hits per year. That and he's what, 22?

I would really like to see Luongo for Thornton but I don't think that's going to happen. I think Luongo is going to Toronto.
