Those are 2 guys I figure the 'Hawks could get without too much to mortgage on the future. IMO, Moen would fit in GREAT to flank Bolly as a 3L.

But how hurt is Moen right now?

- blackhawk24

Moen is back and being showcased. I think both could be had without a giant hit to the Hawks system, especially considering the youth core already in the roster. How attached are you guys to Brandon Saad?

Yeah, this goalie thing is a little blown out of proportion. Unless they would acquire a stand-on-his-head type of guy, it won't help much with the TEAM defence - or lack thereof - in front of him.

To me the order of importance in acquisitions is:

** 4th D-man (PK guy to team with Hammer, pushes Leddy to 3rd pairing)

** 3rd line LW (Tough & physical guy to play with Bolly and some PK time)

** 6th D-man (Yes this means Montador wears a suit some nights and OD gets put out to pasture, but this would mean SB has to ADMIT he made a BIG mistake in Montador's 4yr / $11M deal this past summer; won't hold out too much hope here)

** 2nd line Centre (As much as guys like Ek like to ramble and mumble about this, it's only a luxury at this time; other holes are MUCH bigger)

That's practically a mail-in order for Gill and Moen.

Some are higher than a kite on him. I've seen only a bit of video on him. He looks solid but gets outmuscled by bigger and a year to 2 year older and more experienced kids. Guess there was a reason why he fell to 43rd overall last June.

It all comes down to who comes back in a deal.

It's my order since it's been rumored (not on here) that the 'Hawks are holding the line on salary after this season.

I was thinking Moen and Gill for Saad and a 2nd... essentially 2 seconds, which is about fair value, but 1 who is closer to game ready... or maybe not.

who woulda thought

any names going the other way

heres to ek saying bernier, mason, nabakov, nittymaki and roloson

- dmarsden2988

I could actually see the Hawks making a move for Kubina and Rollie, with Crawford going the other way.

Nabokov maybe. Mason no way, a worse version of Crawford.

Neither Hawk goalie has been great, but Emery has actually been OK. But the defense has been dreadful. Adding a goalie would help, and I believe Crawford would go the other way. But the hawks need a defensive forward AND a defenseman as much or more so.

Why give up Kane for a starting goalie? And what starter is even acquirable right now? If you ask me you either go Nabokov for a 2nd and maybe a prospect or you offer a conditional 1st and prospect for Schneider.(the condition being that he re-signs after the season)

I'm pretty sure fixing Chicago's goaltending problem is Gillis' top priority.
