What about addressing the Mike Kitchen issue? I know he's Q's drinking buddy, but the after giving up 3 more PP goals the guy has got to go. The players can't stand him anyway.

This team is too talented to let that guy stick around.

Bowman will sniff around the league for a goalie and once he realizes a deal is impossible, he'll go grab Turco.

Yep and he has an out clause so this would make some sense.

Goaltending, Defense, Penalty Kill, Power Play, Coaching...take your pick of problems on this team right now.

With the list of names on the Hawks D it's kind of shocking they have any needs there. If you are looking for a PK guy, Gill can be had for a decent prospect or pick. I watch every Habs game, and while the guy is slowing down, he is still an absolute PK beast. He can play decent 5-6 minutes as well. He brings experience and leadership to a line up. As a Habs fan, I'd hate to see him leave, but I like the Hawks and would love to see Hal get a chance with a team I like. The thought of him with the Bruins makes me want to hurl.

Travis Moen is also an awesome depth guy who can bruise, play the PK, who can score and fill in on the top lines during injuries. Package him with Gill and your PK is transformed.

Both guys are UFAs come July 1. Both could be had for picks/prospects. Hawks and Habs would be great trading partners at the moment.

it could, but the Hawks have seen this movie before and bringing in Turco now would be seen as a desperation move. Will be interesting

It has the potential to be an absolute blockbuster....

Miller
Stafford
Leopold
Brennan

for

Kane
Crawford
Frolik
Leddy

Roughly works out salary wise. Blackhawks can take on a poop ton of salary at the deadline per capgeek

- mochoson

What's failed to be disclosed is even though teams can take on a $hit load of salary - 'Hawks included - is that most of that would have to be shed before the next season anyway; CBA retooling be damned.

That $hit load only applies to the remainer of this season. Thanks, but they're still recovering from the capocalypse of 2010. Yeah, they got the cup but the FO still hasn't retooled the team nearly enough and there's an indication some issues are abound.

Bottom line is the 'Hawks won't take on a whole lot of salary either way.

If the Hawks need a quality starter, their best trading partner should be the Leafs. we have 2 #1 goalies who are cheap and can steal games at any time.

Monster+Gunnarsson for Toews and a 1st rounder is more than a fair trade

- Feeling_Glucky

NFW Toews goes...in a trade. If he ever leaves, it'll be for Wpg as an UFA.

Dont post Hawks rumors. You get me all excited ! But as everyone else said , its not just the goalies. We need one more D man and a real power forward would be great.... The only thing true is that you posted Ek is that patience is running out in Chicago. We'll stop filling the madhouse if the on ice product sucks. And boy do they suck .
- mrpaulish

Yeah, this goalie thing is a little blown out of proportion. Unless they would acquire a stand-on-his-head type of guy, it won't help much with the TEAM defence - or lack thereof - in front of him.

To me the order of importance in acquisitions is:

** 4th D-man (PK guy to team with Hammer, pushes Leddy to 3rd pairing)

** 3rd line LW (Tough & physical guy to play with Bolly and some PK time)

** 6th D-man (Yes this means Montador wears a suit some nights and OD gets put out to pasture, but this would mean SB has to ADMIT he made a BIG mistake in Montador's 4yr / $11M deal this past summer; won't hold out too much hope here)

** 2nd line Centre (As much as guys like Ek like to ramble and mumble about this, it's only a luxury at this time; other holes are MUCH bigger)

Those are 2 guys I figure the 'Hawks could get without too much to mortgage on the future. IMO, Moen would fit in GREAT to flank Bolly as a 3L.

But how hurt is Moen right now?

A 4th D + Goalie seems like the best blockbuster this team needs. And selling Kane or Hossa, would probably get you that and a 1st. Just imagine:

Kane
1st
Prospect

Suter
Lindback
Kostitsyn
2nd.

- Viktory

For me it'd be 4D + 3L for the 'Hawks.

On the trade, too much uncertainty with Suter. Last thing the 'Hawks need is yet another long term / big money deal. They're already too top heavy.

I'm still not convinced there won't be a "cap adjustment" as part of the next CBA.
