Chris Neil has completely destroyed Schenn's confidence!
He jumped him so hard that he caused a drop in game going back to the start of training camp.

I wonder what killed every Sens Dman's confidence. You want a laugh?

Simply putting forward the comments on Sportnet the other night. There has been a substantial drop in Schenn's playing time and there is some concern about his confidence. I don't know what the inside attribution is to this story but some of the Sportnet commentators have linked it to the Niel fight. I wonder if he is hurt?

I suspect this is going to get a lot worse over the balance of this year and well into next year before it improves. But, it is the price you need to pay if you want to rebuild as an elite team.

he's been bad since training camp, me thinks he didn't train properly this summer. To much emphasis on adding muscle, not enough on skating. Made a similar mistake a couple of years ago.

Filatov's doing good in teh AHL, not Colborne good, but good.

It's the price you pay when your Dmen don't know how to play defense.

The is correct. But we know that you can teach defense. But, you cannot teach the kind of high end skill that you see coming from Karlsson and Rundblad. The plus minus figure is merely the result of playing time. Any of the Ottawa kids on defense will have a negative plus minus in direct relation to their playing time since Ottawa will score signigicantly less than the teams they play against.

You ever see Anton Stralman play? Man, he was so skilled. Shame he could never learn the ins and outs of what it takes to be an NHL Dman.

Roger have you know shame? The Leafs have not had as good a start this year as they did last year? Let's not start planning the parade route before we play a single road game.

Dion and Phil have both been playing terrific hockey for half a season now, dating back to last year.

And spare me the "Parade Route" routine please.

Watched the most amazing thing the other night, the Senators put Karlsson out against Ovechken. All night Karllson stopped him at the blue line and took the puck away. The kid has incredible defensive one on one against elite talents. He has yet to learn to play solid positionally and let the play come to him he is so keen to go on the attack. You just have to let the kid play and all the defensive stuff will begin to fall into place, this is simply about time. The same thing will need to happen in regard to Rundblad. Cowen is a more traditional project and he will follow the same pattern of ups and downs for a shut down Dman.

that's impressive. So, OV coudn't get past the blueline with the puck? Did he manage to hold him to zero shots? That's amazing.

yea, and Ovechkin's been on fire this season. Must have been a really rough assignment for Karlsson.

I don't recall, were his fantastic shut-down skills employed against Kessel as well?

He got 7 shots on net that night.... His season high. 3 with Karlsson on the ice. Which, ALONE, would have been his season high.

Something tells me he may have managed to get by the blueline a couple of times.

I guess it was hard to see through those Sens goggles.

All the shots to the outside. Some shots were just taken in frustration.

Gary Galley commented that Karlsson showed how other Dmen need to learn how to play Ovechken. It was really quite amazing to see how effective he was not just in stopping Ovechken but in creating a large frustration around his play.

They all must have learned from Karlsson already(even before he played against OV), because just about everybody's been shutting him down. When was he running his clinic?

I guess you did not see the game or follow any of the post game commentary. I suspect that none of the Ovechkin shots were actually strong scoring chances.

Weird, the shot chart shows only 1 of Ovechkins 7 shots to come from the outside. Almost all were right down the middle, just outside the hashmarks. Exactly where he hangs out a lot for one timers.

I have no idea why you are arguing the matter with me. It was the constant theme of discussion during the game, the post game and the following day in the media. Not sure what motivates your need to reinterprete reality. Perhaps if you say something often enough you might come to believe it. But, that will not make it true.

I'm not arguing it. I'm just looking at your posts, and noticing that nothing you say seems to be consistent with what the stats, shot charts, and replays I just watched.

I suspect it's your Sens goggles, at their best. Like 90% of the other thigns you say.

Karlsson can't play D. It's just a fact.

You cannot move from the specific to the general as a rhetorical strategy. It is fine to be general or to be specific but you cannot mix them other than as a statement of compliance or surrender. I am assuming you have arrived at the point where you have lost connection with the point you were trying to make.

Again you are saying what you want to believe. There is nothing wrong with believing what you want but when you do you give up any reasonable ground of objectivity. You will have to live with your assertion that the kid can't play D. We will know in time.

Ummmm, no, YOU are saying what you want to believe. What I'm saying has all sorts of things to back it up. Including REPLAYS.

You went from "he kept getting stopped at the blueline", to which I responded, he had a season high 7 shots. You said "they were all from the outside", to which I replied that 6 of 7 were not, according to the shot chart, and the NHL play by play (which is accessible from the game stats on NHL.com). You say they were not legit scoring chances. I watched the replays, they were.

It's CLEARLY you who is seeing what you want to.

You just keep backtracking and finding excuses.
