a hockey hitman

interesting....

How are the coaches supposed to know that he swapped out his plastic shoulder and elbow pads with serrated steel ones?

Agree with you there. It was obviously intentional. He should get a suspension.

Still think Kadri out played Frattin... again. He was in a much more difficult spot playing centre with Kessel... then playing along the boards with Armstrong.
Kadr much more of a offensive threat and if he plays with Bozak and Armstrong he can provide more skill to that line than Frattin will. Kadri assisted on the first goal, put a good screen on the goalie which change Liles mind for passing to shot, which then got the Leafs going.

He's also 2-3 years younger.

IMO - putting Kadri back in the AHL this year will slow his mental development for the NHL game.

- HipHopisDead

We have a different opinion on Frattin vs. Kadri, I think Frattin has been the all round better player but it doesn't mean I have given up on Kadri, I want to see him succeed, always have.

Why? Orr never cheapshots people back, Neil won't fight him and it's not like Orr can just start a fight if Neil doesn't want to. What good will him being there do? He wouldn't even be on the ice to retaliate.

grab him, beat him, and take the instigator penalty and suspension

man it would be worth it just to see neil get pounded

yup... and with Ottawa's offense being what it is, probably wouldn't cost us a thing when all is said and done.

not taking this seriously means that I should take you seriously. but if I should take you seriously, then this says that I shouldn't take you seriously.

Man most(not all) of you Leaf fans are so off base it's not even funny. Neil's not going to get suspended. Im not saying Neil was 100% innocent on this play, but there is just not enough proof to claim Neil did it on purpose.

Neil doesnt have a history of cheapness.

Neil doesn't back down from fights.

If he was available, he would be welcomed with open arms by any NHL team.

Are you (frank)ing kidding me?

http://youtu.be/iUkM-FyvTkg late elbow to the head

http://youtu.be/wzcJfHtqkgw jumps to elbow Hedman in the face

http://youtu.be/yKKzDOFK5EM Leaves feet and reaches down for headshot
http://youtu.be/5uL2Inf0hc4 jumps (he likes to do that...)

http://youtu.be/2R8maaJPeFE and let's not forget Drury...

Not saying all these are penalties, but they are all DIRTY hits. Everyone of them.
And these are just the first 5 I pulled up. Could do this all day.

I'd love Neil if he was a Leaf too, but I sure as hell wouldn't blow smoke up your ass about him not being dirty. He is, and he needs to be to do his job. Period.

that will probably make him a better player lol

as for the leafs defense, i stand by my statement that Komisarek will be the 5th guy unless Burke moves him. As for the best d-man, I would say gunnarsson personally

- Dozzer

erm...did you not watch the game last night?

Gunnar's gotta change the sheets cause he certainly shat the bed last night

Especially in pre-season.

There's probably 20+ teams in the league that you really don't need a enforcer for ....so for me you keep an Orr or Rosehill to dress against those other 5 or 10 teams. Although with just 60 minutes in a hockey game are you really losing anything by dressing an enforcer and having him sit on the end of the bench? He's like a loaded gun ...ready if necessary.

I'm a little pissed Wilson didn't send Rosehill after him. (frank)ing preseason for Christ sakes. Sure, when the game matters, don't risk the penalty and get the 2 points. But in a preseason game? Take the dog off the Leash. Why hell else is he in the game?

While I would love that, Orr isn't that guy. You need a Shawn Thornton/Steve Ott/Chris Neil for that kind of thing.

I think putting Kadri back in the AHL will slow down his development, his skill set needs to learn the NHL game. The 7th overall three years ago needs a full year to determine his potential and improve his knowledge. This could be a future first liner - he's crazy skilled. He did enough damage in the AHL last year to prove he's over and above that skill set.

Frattin appears ideal for a perfect winger 3rd liner role for years to come. He's a good player. Pretty impressive considering where he came from.

At the end of the day both should be on the team.

i agree with this, players will learn to adjust

but typically people will come down on shanny if he gives out a lighter suspension to someone else... a players past record does come into play as well, its not soley based on the offense itself

- Dozzer

oh ya he has to be consistent. That was the biggest beef with Campbell. As long as he stays consistently strict, no worries, and the game will clean up.

People getting sick of all the suspensions need to realize that this isn't new, there are always this many dirty hits in preseason. 4th liners are all fighting for jobs, and for the most part getting more minutes than they would in the regular season.

yeah, he had an off first period, but his first bad game of the pre-season, also keep in mind he was paired with a guy in phaneuf he rarely plays with

I like all of this, but I'd say Frattin may have 2nd line potential for sure. That shot is ridiculous. PP minutes could make him a sniper. He could take McArthur's spot right now and that line wouldn't miss a beat (based solely on what we've seen so far. My preference would be give him time in AHL and see if he dominates, then bring him back up.)

players are going to have to figure out that if you hit a guy in the head blatantly, you will be sitting for a long time. its how it should be.
