I thought last nights game was great entertainment between two fast skating teams. Both teams held their share of pressure on the other throughout the game.

However there were a few quirky calls by the officials.

I'm not talking about the two Florida penalties, that were not served, that were clearly penalties, seen by all in the rink, but the penalty assessed Matt Bradley was bewildering until seen in slow motion, which showed Rundblad was merely pushed off the puck and his skates seemed to catch in a rut or something. I don't see that as a penalty at all. It was called for holding, but I did not see it.

The Senators deserved the 2 points and almost gave one them to Florida when they pulled their goaltender in the last minute, and scored to tie the game.

You seem to disagree with a lot of things that go against the Sens.

Man, you are way off.

Matt Bradley plays for the Panthers, and I, a Senators fan, clearly stated the penalty assessed him should not have been called.

Do you even read my posts, or just fail to understand them?

I'm going to venture a guess that saying they were clearly penalties, that "were not served" means you didn't agree?

No I agree 100% that the two (Florida)penalties, that were not served, were clearly NHL penalties according to the NHL rule book, just as 100% of those in attendance and 100% of the viewers of the game would also.

Check your stats dude.

So, you didn't agree with the NHL about an NHL game?

No, what is you problem man. I am saying that although the penalty on Bradley was called, it was not warranted after reviewing it in slow motion.

This happens in almost every game becasue of the speed of the game and the on ice officials do not have the luxury of stopping the play to review everything they perceive as a penalty, to confirm that it is.

The two penalties the Florida did not serve, were clearly warranted, and everyone who watched the game knew it.

Check your stats, as it will show you what I am talking about.

BTW because the Senators did not get to go on the PP those two extra times they could have, they were not able to maintain their top PP% ranking in the NHL, They currently sit in the number two position overall, and went 0 for 2 on the PP last night. Had they gone on 2 more PP opportunities, they could have done better, than 0 for 2.

It's all there in the Stats man.

Hummmm. prock is stumped, he can't figure out why Ottawa only had 2 power plays instead of the four they clearly should have.

I guess his stats did not tell him everything that happened in the game.

No one has said these were missed penalties?

What are you talking about?

Is this something you gleaned from the stats?

These two penalties just were not served, and everyone who watched the game knows exactly why. Those, like you, who rely only on stats, and think they get the whole story of a game (with stats) have not got a clue about what I'm talking about.

Those who watched the games know Kadri wasn't playing in the top 6.

When you can't comprehend the point in a discussion, and you can't admit that the stats don't tell you why the Senators only had two power-plays instead of the four they would have had..............then deflect the conversation away from you having to admit that NHL stats fail to paint a full picture of what happened in a game.

Gotcha!

I'm done toying with you.

I watched the game, and know why Ottawa was only awarded two power-plays instead of the four that they clearly would have been awarded.

You can only read the stats, and scratch your head and make assumptions as why they did not receive the addition two power-plays, becasue all you have to rely on is stats.

You've stood firmly in the camp that believes that stats gives a reader a full and comprehensive picture of any given game..............and you can't comprehend WTF I'm talking about. So now I will tell you, and in doing so will prove that those people who watch a game, know more about what happened, than you do if you only read the stats, and don't see what is not recorded.

There were two instances when a penalty was going to be called during the game vs Florida, and Ottawa managed to score a goal prior to Florida gaining control of the puck. By scoring two goals in this fashion, the penalties were not served.

Game set and match.

Michalek hasn't put up more than about a 40 point pace in two years. They have one top 6 forward, and you're hoping two more will be again.

Milan Michalek, currently 4th in the NHL in points. Seems like a top six forward to me.

Penalty occurs, referee raises arm, Senators scores before Florida can regain possession of puck, goal counts and the penalty is not served.

This happened twice in the game, and if you had watched it, would have seen it. This is just one example of "plays" that do not show up in the stats.

My claim is that stats do not give the whole picture of a game,

Anyone who watched a game, live or on TV has a lot more knowledge of what happened in the game than someone who only read the stats.

Carkner and Winchester. Difference makers for sure.
- prock

Since Winchester returned to the line up, the Senators have won six straight games.
Your ignorance of what he brings to a game is being revealed.

BTW he won the last faceoff of the game last night, in the Senators zone, and toronto on the PP and the goaltender pulled for the extra attacker.

And he beat the highest ranked faceoff taker in the league (at the time).
