An NHL team would absolutely not work in Saskatoon.

It's crazy talk. The city only just got a Taco Bell for (frank)s sake.

- BINGO!

Roughriders can sell 33500 (average attendance last year) seats per game, not a stretch that a 20000 hockey game would sell out.

Yeah, but that's one game per week in the summer and the Roughriders are a religion. Probably 15,000 of those tickets are sold to people outside the city of Regina who travel every week to the game.

Trying to drive 3 or more hours to Saskatoon in the middle of winter for a hockey game on a wednesday is a different story.

On top of that, there's the whole TV/Corporate Support thing. Saskatchewan is a tv market of only 1 million people and there are very few large corporations based in the province. There's not a lot of corporate money to throw around here, especially when competing for sponsors with the Roughriders and the Rush.

Saskatoon only has 300k people in and around it. It's a pretty tough sell.

You can go back and read the thread.

I took issue with the reluctance of anyone wanting to discuss the draft. I thought there was a real debate around the Matthews/Laine choices.

Debate will continue on this year. Up until Laine was hurt he was surely ahead in most people's thinking for the Calder. He still ended up with a better ppg performance than Matthews. Debate will continue in the new season.

- spatso

The vote was almost (frank)ing unanimous moron. The people voting know Laine got injured.

It must really hurt that the Sens have never had a center like Matthews.

But it felt so good when the Sens put on their spectacular playoff run!
- spatso

Not as good as it felt when they came out of it weaker, and older

and with zero cups.

Remember a few days after Canada Day when Spazzo was talking poop about how great the Canada Day celebration in Ottawa was and Toronto was lame because we had the stupid big rubber duck?

Actually some things are worthy of a serious response.

Three weeks before on June 3 we saw the terrorist attack on London bridge. The summer before, we remember the horrendous Bastille Day truck slamming in France. Crowd security measures are ramped up in the national capitals of every NATO country.

I remember the day (October 22, 2014) we had the terror attack at the national war remembrance site and the killing of a ceremonial guard standing watch. This attack continued into the halls of Parliament ending in a shootout and the killing of the terrorist.

We remember the Canadian soldier standing guard for us: Nathan Carrillo

This reporter says there was too much emphasis on security.

We disagree.

The scoreboard always matters. Even in an intrasquad game. Great players have this incredible desire to win. Karlsson carried an entire team on his back despite a fractured heel and damaged tendons. The desire to win was enough to overcome the limitations of pain and discomfort.

CRosby wins. McDavid wins. Being good without winning is just entertainment.

If Carleton the Bear and Sparticat go three rounds at center ice on MOnday night, I am cheering for the Cat.

so a meaningless game means alot to you.

kind of sad.

but thanks for another display of your mental instability by bringing up Krosby and Mcdayvid for absolutely no reason. Mario and Gretsky would be proud.
