sens 4th liners > leafs 4th liners. this is how you build a winner. so much jealously.
- daeth

Partly, more important Sens are stronger in nets with a better starter and back up. And, obviously, the Sens are far stronger on the defensive backend.

Pyatt was a great role player for the Sens last year, he was very strong in the playoffs. Important to know that Pyatt played for Boucher in Switzerland and Boucher asked for him. I thought it was a trivial signing. But in close one goal games Pyatt got lots of ice time in the third period.

Thompson is even more interesting. He played for Boucher (Tampa) and Boucher wanted him. Sens believe he will fill the job of 4th line centre to replace Chris Kelly. Boucher wanted Thompson for his 54% face off skill and his penalty killing abilities.

Boucher's goal is maintain the same defensive numbers (GA) and improve the offensive numbers (GF).

Good luck with that.

marleau is very interesting. he was a great key player for the sharks. and rhe swedish signings were both key players dor their teams in sweden. liljegren was prijwcted to go at number 2, and is considered by many to be the best dman in the world not playing in the NHL.

Babcock's goal is to continue to improve the goals for, goals against, and shots against.

Feeling Glucky?

I think his goal should be to win all the games. That'd be my goal.

compared to the Sens. hardly. they re just old geezers. maybe one or two young players that would have trouble cracking the Sens roster. Have you not seen tsns lists? Leafs are just too old now. Window closed.

Sens tried to trade Gaborik for Phaneuf but the Kings said (frank) no and laughed at them. Not a good summer so far for the Sens.

Duh. Anybody who is older than 26 years of age was born before the Sens existed. Many are Leaf and Canadiens fans. Some like me have made a conscious decision to support the Sens even though I grew up a Leaf fan. But you will not find many Leaf fans among the under 25 crowd. The Sens made huge progress in expanding their footprint during the recent playoff run.

The playoff run of the Ottawa Senators was infamous for its struggle to sell out games. Now it has come out that the Sens are among the teams whose attendance has dropped the most over 10 years.
The Ottawa Senators ranked as the team with the third biggest drop off in attendance over the last 10 years. Only dropping less than the Carolina Hurricanes and Colorado Avalanche this is certainly a cause for concern. The Sens’ attendance has dropped by 13.6% over the last 10 years. A team that sold out every game ten years ago is now on average only selling to 87.4% of capacity. What has happened in Ottawa to cause such a drop in fan interest?

Mediocrity
Part of the reason for the dropping of attendance can be attributed to the consistent mediocrity of a team that used to be so dominant. In the early and mid-2000s the Sens were one of the best teams in the league. However, since then the Sens have struggled the string together playoff appearances. Although this cannot be the only reason for decreasing attendance as the Sens had a fantastic playoff run this year but didn’t sell out every game.

Existing Talent

The Toronto Maple Leafs had a jaw-dropping rookie crop in 2016-17, one of the best in the game's history. Just as amazing, the club has enough in the prospect pool to rank among the league's 10 best again this summer. Among the most impressive prospects bubbling under are Kasperi Kapanen, Jeremy Bracco and Yegor Korshkov.

2017 Draft

Toronto doesn't make this list without a strong draft in 2017 and a stroke of luck. One of the best prospects in the draft, Timothy Liljegren, saw his draft stock fall during the season. The Maple Leafs were able to get him at No. 17 overall and now have a perfect fit right defenseman to add to what is an exceptional young team.

Summary

Added to the group of young players who were rookies in 2016-17, the combination of Liljegren and the group of prospects drafted in 2015 and 2016 should transform the Maple Leafs to a power in the Eastern Conference. Toronto hasn't celebrated a Stanley Cup since 1967, but that drought may come to an end in the next several years.
