You and I both know there was more to that story.

Ottawa wanted to re-sign both Chara and Redden, when they both were approaching unrestricted free agency.

They wanted them both to accept a "home town discount" in exchange for a longer term.

In the previous two seasons, including the last season that both contracts were expiring, Redden was playing the better of the two, and Chara had a terrible playoffs.

Redden was signed first and it was hoped that Chara would also sign, but he wanted Alfredsson's Captaincy, and that was not going to happen.

He got what he wanted with Boston, and probably had decided to go to UFAgency all along, right after Hossa (his best friend at the time) was traded earlier.

I almost forgot that Redden wound being a Bruin as well.

Ottawa Traded away Bishop for Conacher and a 4th. CC is is pace for 25 points

Bishop is leading the NHL is sv%, has 25 wins and I heard on the Sens radio last night could be in the discussion for league MVP.

Sens have 22 Wins, Bishop 25

Mistake?

Everyone already knows that trade sucked. Most knew it was bad day 1. The Bishop trade needs more exposure.

Why? Guess how many minutes Rask played when Boston won the cup.

Definitely not out of the realm of possibility - that was a teeth-clenching trade, but at least we kept sent Bishop to a division rival for a fantastic low-impact under-sized return who doesn't score much but really really tries...

and is forever falling down.

In any case, four teams to pass in the standings, with only 30 games to go............looks like Murray will be selling at the trading deadline.

Possible players to be peddled........Michalek, Phillips & Corvo?????

And then we get to this point. How is this relevant? Can Bishop score goals? Can he play defense? Team game.

So no individual player matters. Gotcha.

I legit have no clue wtf this post of yours was supposed to mean or how it furthered whatever your point was. All I did was flip someone else's anti-ottawa post into an equally inane toronto post.

Personally, I think all 7 Canadian teams (frank)ing suck. I think the Habs have the best chance at contending 5 years from now but thats mostly a tallest midget situation.

His post was funny. Your post was stupid. You posted a simplified version of what Dopps did. You know you've (frank)ed up when that happens.

makes no never mind, either team has too many teams to catch & pass in the standings, with two few games remaining.

Remember this post when you criticize other's grammar.

I will however take this post as an admission that the Leafs are in a better situation than the Sens.

Interesting scouting report on Jake Virtanen- the guy projected to go 11th(Where Anaheim is currently picking with Ottawa's 1st)- from ISS:

Uses his size exceptionally well. Combines skill-set on puck w/ fiery intensity

Based on the spelling of the bolded, we know Bobby Ryan wasn't the scout.

and from Future Considerations:
Virtanen is a heads-up player who thinks the game well and is willing to get his nose dirty. He has slick hands, a dynamic shot and a strong stride that makes him dangerous. He can be outright dominant at times offensively with his blend of size, skill and speed. (August 2013)

Damn. I'm jealous of Anaheim. Hopefully he drops far enough for the Leafs to pick him up.... though a guy like Connor Bleakly, a center from the WHL, who's over a point per game right now, might be available.

Good thing our GM didn't trade away that pick for a soon-to-be UFA, who'll want a large contract that a budget team like Ottawa may balk at.

Consider also that Anaheim is a contender NOW. Whichever prospect they pick up will probably have a decent amount of time to develop and be ready a few seasons later.

I hate not having our first - wouldn't be as bad if we were in a better position in the standings. Oh well, apparently every single player in this upcoming draft is pure dogsh*t according to some people... =/

"makes no never mind" is a phrase commonly used by french speaking Canadians in the Ottawa/Gatineau area.

I worked 30 yrs plus in a workplace that 60/40 french speaking/english speaking, and it's a phrase I still use.

I would not expect you to believe me...........but do expect you to disparage my use of it.

FYI, french speaking Canadian will also use the phrases "open the light" & "close the light" when speaking english.

And yes, today the leafs are in a better situation, as they've moved up out of a wild-card spot. and Ottawa has to many teams to pass in the standings to be considered in the running for the playoffs. I'm not one to delude myself into thinking that because they're only two points back, they are closer to making the playoffs than not.
