OMG YES!!

Murray traded for Methot who matched the team's needs more than Foligno.

Just like Schenn for JVR right???

- Doppleganger

Exactly. The top-6 forward for replaceable shutdown d-man.

Both Toronto and Columbus got away with theft.

Phoenix or Anaheim perhaps others.

Ryan and Turris for picks and prospects who could not make the Senators.

Columbus received a player they needed, and Ottawa received a home town-boy, who fit right into their needs..............both team got what they needed.

Most GMs deal from strength and Ottawa had multiple players available to replace Foligno, and needed someone to play in their top four D-men.

toronto needed a top line winger, so they traded the pick(s) that turned out to be Seguin for Kessel. Both have 21 goals (Kessel has played 4 more games)

The question to be asked, that can never be answered is, if Burke had held onto to his picks, would toronto be better off today with Seguin, than with Kessel??

Seguin needed a trade to get his head on straight. That should answer the question right there.

Not that I should chime in on this disaster of a thread, but Seguin was buried behind superior, veteran talent in Boston. He wouldnt have had that problem in Toronto.

If I were to make a thread about who was in a better situation between the Oilers and the Flames, Leafs and Sens fans would say "Who cares? They both suck and aren't going to be cup competitive any time soon".

Just know in turn that Bruins, Pens, Blackhawks, and Kings fans are out there somewhere, wondering how this thread could become so important to you guys...

Some of us get bored at work, while their bosses travel the world and give no instructions until 11PM the night before the thing they want done needs to be done.

okay, I know that drill.

For the record, even if it's a tie, I'll take the team that doesn't have a Richardbag owner that neither understands the game nor is able to spend money on his team. Even the most frugal ownership groups in Nashville and Phoneix who make amazing use of their resources are finding out that you need to attract top end talent if you want to compete.

In addition to having ownership that's willing to spend, the Leafs have a GM who will not trade away picks or prospects, unless other, better youngsters are coming in.

Nice to hear, as opposed to the Ottawa GM, who;s made it clear he is willing to trade youth and has traded a top prospect for a 2nd liner and what may still be a lottery pick, when all is said and done, for a player that is likely to walk.

I guess my point was that competing for cups is to fighting for wildcard spots as fighting for wildcard spots is to dwelling in the basement.

Not that I wouldn't rather be arguing about a wildcard team than a basement one.

After all this time, the Leafs finally have a leadership group that will try to match the hopes of their fans - I know a lot of Leafs fans and not a single one of them is a jerk, so I'm happy for them that actual progress has been made and will continue to be. I'm long done with this stupid "You're wrong because I hate your team" bs.

And for us, I'm more concerned that our owner, who should probably spend more money and less time on the team, is directing our GM to "go for it now rather than later" when we clearly don't have the team that's a tweak or two away from truly contending. As a fan I'd obvously love to believe things are great simply because I want them to be, but as a guy with just a little bit of functioning mush between my ears I know there are 30 teams wishing to be the last one standing. If BM the GM makes a couple of "right now" moves, we could be paying for it by starting a new rebuild just when we thought THIS rebuild was to have been finished.

Right now the two Ontario based teams are going to be spending the rest of the season in a race with about 5 or six other teams, for the final two wildcard spots.

Ottawa has a slightly better record than toronto, on this day, and both could very well fall short and both be in the Draft Lottery.

Ottawa has been trending up in the last few weeks, while the leafs are trending down.

I think a lot of what he said on the day of his contract extension has more to do with letting the players know that if they continue to play as they've been doing in the past three weeks, there is the possibility he might look for some help.............but I suspect the real intention is to keep them focused on winning so that they won't be the one that might be shipped out.

There are a few spare parts in Binghamton that may no longer factor into the Senators future plans and these statements may have been a way to solicit a few more phone calls...........but their are a number of untouchables in Binghamton, that will not be going anywhere soon.

Still useless.

Uselessly has a useless team like the sens above the Leafs, despite the usless sens uselessly being outside of a playoff spot, and the Leafs being in one(with a higher point percentage).

P% is calculated by dividing points by maximum possible points in the number of games played by each team has already played.

It is the only true way to rank teams in relationship to each other, during the season, because only on the first and last day of the regular season, all teams sit having played the exact same number of games.

And the Leafs have a better point percentage than the sens.

So why did you post the number of games played?
