yeah? do honestly think there is anything Ottawa or Vancouver can realistically add to make themselves a contender? Winnipeg isn't going to jump from basement to cup competitor are they?

who else possibly could? toronto and Edmonton are really the only two that have most things sorted and could reasonably add the remaining pieces in one offseason. even then probably not. it's a tall order.

The Habs have less to add than TO, as do the Flames.

It's OK though, we all expect you to be overly biased.

Leafs seem to be set on FWD and G

Now they need an elite defender and to improve their depth

It's actually fairly impressive to see what the Leafs are doing with what is considered the worst D corps in the league. Imagine if they could just improve their defense to average.

It is not that simple. Getting to the next level is a lot more complicated than just adding the right player. I thought and said the Leafs would give the Capitals a tough series. I believed if they could steal one in Washington and hold one in Toronto it would come down to a Leaf team that was allowed to believe in itself and Washington team riddled with self doubt based on past experience.

I think the Leafs can win the series.

Huge come back by Senators after some freaky calls and plays.

Travis Yost argues convincingly that the Bergeron line is the number 1 fancy stat line in hockey. People forget (or want to forget) that the Bruins are the overall fancy stat team in hockey.

All things considered Phaneuf was pretty strong on the night matched up against Bergeron, Marchand and Pasternak/Backes.

Phaneuf was +3 on the night going head to head with the best line in hockey.

I think it would be relatively simple for the Leafs to go from worst D in hockey to someone near 14th-18th.

Hardest thing, you always told me, in the NHL is to score goals. Leafs have no issues in that department. The rest is gravy. They just need a bit of time to mature.

Yes it is true. At the individual level scoring is the highest skill. Reason why top scorers are top paid players. Now you go from scoring really well to trying to build D without losing too much individual scoring. Sens were top 10 scoring team last year and have struggled to make transition to reduce goals against. But you need to bring down the GA to go deep into playoffs.

To be fair to the Sens, they hired a coach that prefers to play (in general) a God awful style of hockey. Can't see Babcock trying to kill any of Mitch or William's creativity

the list on ESPN writers, that you're referring to, was a list that was picking series winners, and one out of the twelve picked 4 games. ....... but nice attempt at spinning that buddy.

most successful coaches, will assess the skill set of the players on the team, and determine which system would play best into their collective skills, and implement that system.

Someone pointed out that Boucher was touted as PP specialist ............ but that has not been very evident this season, and especially in the last month of the season.

Sens scored one on the PP and coughed up a SHG yesterday ...... so special teams still not where anyone would want them to be.

The fact that the guy they got back as part of trading away Froese set up the game winner. and it's a Leafs Sens thread.

so you're asked again....what does price have to do with this thread?

The guy he was traded for assisted on the game winning goal of a guy who was, according to your expert analysis, a worse prospect. His second of the game.

makes up for his minus in the first game in which he was unimpressive. I think we can both agree that we're happy he's on the Sens roster and payroll.

So everyone in Canada is expected to every part of every trade that the leaf make?

No one but a leaf fan would know, or even care about trades made by the leafs.

Did you know that a part of the Cody Donaghey trade, scored a goal last night?

If you don't know, why speak?

You're the one who called Froese the Leafs' top prospect, and then tried to back that up.

My "expert analysis" was just pointing out that the leafs traded their top goal/point scorer from their AHL team ................. again, you just spin and spin...... big freaking deal.

Do you know the guy Ottawa acquired when they traded this year's second-round pick away scored last night?
