Real character game by Sens in coming back to gain a point after being down 4-2 midway through 3rd period. Overall they played a strong game and Karlsson makes such a huge difference.

But don't think they can go a long way if both Ceci and Methot are not available.

- spatso

hard to disagree with this.

Sens character is on full display as they went from top team in the division to battling for 9th like I said they would at the start of the year.

Sens are an awful team.

So, looks like Montreal free fall continues. I think we will discover that Therrien was never the problem. Sens, Leafs, Bruins and Panthers are all positioned to run down the Canadiens in the stretch drive.

Also, the media and fan scene in Montreal is desperate and watch for them to try a Hail Mary trade to try and salvage their season.

It is ugly and getting worse.

Really. So, they designate Ottawa as the first dark horse contender after naming their 8 contenders. You said "only" Pierre McGuire has called Ottawa the dark horse contender to emerge from the East. Yet, McGuire says that "lots" of insiders are talking lots of love over this Ottawa team and a possible playoff run.

Did you want rephrase what you had actually meant to say?

Loving your work in the thread. It's hilarious looking back at this nonsense.

Well I guess we are into a full moon because there is lots of lunacy and talk about the Sens continuing to look stronger as the season goes forward.

I think the Sens will do a deal for either Duchene or Landeskog (more likely).

Sens are 2 points out of first with 3 games in hand. Canadiens' fans can handle it. Situation is more problematic for Leaf fans.

- spatso

a huge problem.

I just read that on the Sens blog, someone had posted it.

Anyway does not change the fact that they played a great game again tonight.

But I know your style. You love to nuance meaning through deceptive assertion. So, why would you put the emphasis on March when teams are playing a boatload of games through February? So, I checked the schedule between now and the end of February and the Sens only have three games involving a team currently sitting in a playoff spot (includes one against the Leafs). And, I see they start March off with games against Colorado and Arizona...perhaps you shaded the truth?

But. I do love the way you spin your attempts at hockey illusion.

Nobody is cheering against Matthews. Pretty normal to see do overs being discussed after the draft and once the season starts. Great sports question is if you held the draft today who goes first? Who wins the Calder? Don't understand why Leaf fans fight against discussion.
- spatso

okay lets discuss. you go first.

Leafs have comfortably slipped into last place in the Atlantic Division and Tweedledee and Tweedledumb are still fascinated by the impending rush they are about to make to the head of the class.

Problem with scoreboards is that they measure outcomes. The statistics that really matter suggest that the premature celebration among blue and white kool aid drinkers has been somewhat misguided. We are only a few days away from Christmas and it appears that the Leafs have successfully positioned themselves to compete for another top draft pick.

Overall, I love the Shanaplan. We all know it was 10 years too late. But for the premature speculators it is still a few years away from producing fruit.

At some point we are going to need for you to put on your big boy pants and face the reality of what is. In the NHL it is called scoreboard and standings.

Ottawa currently has the 6th best record in the NHL, and the leafs have the 19th best record............... so they must be worse than garbage.

Duh! Give your head a shake. Leafs are in 13th place.

Scoreboard and standings matter.

By Christmas (every year) the standings will tell us the top 12 teams in the NHL that will make the playoffs and the 10 that will fight for the last 4 spots. The Leafs will have done "better than I thought" if they put themselves in the group of 10 fighting for a post season berth. I did expect that they would be in the group of 8 speculating on the best picks in the upcoming amateur draft.

Sure you are. You guys have been upset with me ever since I told you that Brian Blowhard was more con than substance. I like what Shanahan is doing and how he is going about getting the changes he wants. But I have little patience with the media and fans that are pumping tires and expecting the Leafs to make the playoffs this year. it is not going to happen. Just look how long it has taken Edmonton to work it out despite the best run of draft picks in modern hockey history. Same for a bunch of other teams. You cannot expect kids to compete with men overnight.

The irony is that as you begin to look retrospectively at what I said you can see that I thought Matthews was the right pick for the Leafs.

Pretty sad that the leaf trolls on this site have moved away from trashing the Senators, who now sport the fourth best record overall in the NHL, and can now only focus on players, they have decided are "overpaid", the Banners hung in the rafters at the CTC, the lower than average attendance, the owner or whatever they can grasp at to make them feel some sort of solace, because once again, as in the seasons of the past decade or so, the Senators are on track to finish ahead of the leafs once again.

Not that I accept your interpretation of how the Senators have built their team , they, the Senators, continue to be the better of the two teams in Ontario, and have been for more than the last 10 seasons............and a quick look at the overall standings will show you that.

Tampa now on life support ....... if they lose one more game, and both Ottawa and Boston manage a couple of points in their couple of games, Tampa is pretty much gone from the playoff picture.

Montreal clinched first, Ottawa, Bruins and leafs now will jockey for the remaining three PO spots.
