going about this the wrong way

its okay to admit the Senators are a good team

they are.

The Leafs are good too, and are trending upwards.

The problem is the fans. spatso and d0pps are entering Stage I of the spring season with tons of optimism. The talk of playoffs has permeated the Ottawa atmosphere and fans drunkenly revel about the prospect of hoisting the first Stanley Cup ever. Stage II comes in a bit later when the final game of the season has been concluded. Sens fans will look at the standings and cheer as their team has made it again! They will mock their rivals for finishing lower in the standings - especially the Leafs and also revel in the fact that they have the best rookie in the league - this year, Patrik Laine (and next year White & Chabot).

Stage III starts in round 1 of the playoffs. Some luck & the team has managed to scrape a win but the fans applaud their team and bemoan the refs for terrible refereeing. Its an absolute travesty how other teams are getting away with giving microfractures to all of their star players. Finally, Stage IV is when the Senators are eliminated from the playoffs in humiliating fashion and Sens fans start bragging about how successful they are because they have such a great team but some bad luck has stopped them from getting to the promised land. It's OK though because they'll make it next year. And this time, Eugene Melnickel-and-dime will be willing to open the chequebook to attract star players like MacArthur and retain stars like Bobby Ryan. Every year is better than the last!!

Spatso should really file a grievance that his boss makes him work a full 24 hours shift just because the Leafs won the night before. It's not fair that his boss' hatred of the Leafs affects his life.

Sorry, I did watch the Leaf game last night, they did play really well.

I got back from Florida very late Sunday and have had a backlog at work and just trying to keep up.

Have been able to read most of the posts on this thread. Highly entertaining, enjoy them all.

Calm before the storm.

If the leafs can stay ahead of boston, the real poop show will begin.

If the season ends with the playoff line up being Montreal vs Rangers and Leafs vs Sens it would be great for hockey.

The trick is to be able to wound them so that the wound does not heal easily. Clearly it was a very delicate incision on my part. Although, to be honest, I think my comments back when Boston took the Leafs out in game 7 was even more provocative. Disappointing that nobody goes back to repeat some of those Boston series comments. Perhaps that wound still contains too much pain.

That is entirely silly, I don't say anything different than what Leafs fans say. I merely say it from a Sens perspective. If this were a Sens thread than you would likely be called a troll. If it were a Leafs thread than you might call me a troll. But this is not a Leaf or Sens thread.

Some of you guys are more like girls. You get all emotional and take things personally. You should study Prock, he never takes it personally, he stays on point and he stays faithful to his long term beliefs.

Great game between Sens and Pens. Sometimes you forget just how good and how tough Crosby is in every aspect of the game.

Do they get the Rangers if they win the division? Pretty sure both Ottawa and Montreal would be better off finishing 2nd if that's the case. Toronto or Boston would be a much easier matchup you'd think even with the Rangers playing like poop right now.

I'm not sure. I think the Habs play better up. I'd rather them play the Sens in the 1st or the Rags. I do think TO will have a tough time against any of them. If TO were to win he 1st game or split home ice they could do some damage.

Inexperienced teams very rarely win a round. Assuming the Leafs make the playoffs simply winning a game or two would be an accomplishment.

Another example of the Sens inability to score.

Fortunately there's no 3-on-3 or shootout in the playoffs.

Don't think so. The Leafs are playing a lot better than the Rangers and Ottawa plays the Rangers pretty well. I want to see the Sens or Leafs or Canadiens play in the Conference final. My preference would be Ottawa vs Rangers and Montreal vs Toronto. Great result for hockey.

This applies to all teams, who fail to win in regulation, and go on to accumulate points in 3 on 3 or in shoot outs.

For example the leafs are the biggest beneficiary of 3 on 3 & SO losses, in the NHL with 15 points.

Ottawa leads the Atlantic in regulation wins, and is in the top third of the league with 32 Regulation wins and have NOT lost in regulation, in consecutive games since the 7th of February................. so it terms of 5 on 5 hockey (regulation wins), Ottawa is one of the best in Eastern Conference, sitting in 5th behind only the top four teams in the Metro division.

The leafs have by comparison, have 28 regulation wins, 18th in the league and eighth in their Conference.

So by focusing only on total scoring while playing 5 on 5 ......... you're missing the bigger picture ............ Wins while playing 5 on 5 ........ and the Senators measure up as the Best 5 on 5 team in their division, 5th in their Conference and 10th in the NHL overall.
