The engineers are great, they told us exactly where to put the snow shovels holes to efficiently sink a sub
- sensarmy_11

What were they thinking, hiring the same engineers who built the Death Star???????

I think subs are supposed to go under water but I'm no expert.

It's absolutely true.....I'd say about 5-6% infantry. Maybe another 3-4% for armoured and artillery who I wouldn't consider "grunts" but still combat trades
- sensarmy_11

A couple of things... 1)I would legitimately love a source for that. Seems insane that such a small portion is infantry... even 11% of the military being land combat forces seems way too low.

2) your initial post implied that the rest of the army was scholars.... I feel like there is way more in the way of non-combat "grunts"... deckhands, janitors, and other menial support folk.

That's not a problem with the engineers. That's a political issue, like the F35.

1. Not that hard to believe......for every 1 guy you have at the pointy end there are several people supporting in the background. You also have all the officers. It's like any company really.

2. I think you'd be very surprised how many people in the military have degrees. Buy my original point was that there are a poop load of brilliant people in the military

It's also largely wrong.....3 of the 4 subs are fully operational (2 are currently deployyed)......and the 4th is undergoing routine maintenance.

The reason they bought those subs was because we aren't allowed to operate nuclear powered ships/subs.....and nobody makes non nuclear anymore. They're very capable boats once they got them fixed up.....quietest subs in the world

one of the hottest teams in the league at home vs a team playing some of the worst hockey in the league over the last while. should be a close blow out.

if only the leafs could've improved their 4th line even more, i really think that would've been a game changer

Such a dumb trade

If they were trading a 2nd they should have got a better #3/4 defenseman and they should have been upgrading at 5/6 as well. I know our top 3 need work too but that comes at a really high cost. Bang for buck they could have addressed 4,5,6 and they could be a much better team without giving up many assets

Idk. Maybe if we did it at the expense of our closest competitor it would have made a difference.

From what I know, it's a generally held opinion that the Canadian army punches well above it's weight.

They may be ill-equipped, but at when it comes to the actual operations they carry out, it seems their training/good ol canadian pugnacity does them well.
