Finally settled in for Florida stay. Weather is Ottawa is just about the same as it is here.

Did hear Pierre McGuire this morning talking about "lots" of insiders are saying Sens are the dark horse contender from the East this year. I listened carefully to Dorion's words the other day and I am getting more certain that Ottawa will do a huge deal.

Most surprised about his language on Colin White. After saying all year he would finish this season in Ottawa he is now suddenly saying White is not ready for prime time. I think he is getting people ready to accept that he is about to deal White.

I would certainly be open to including White in a package for Duchene. Not sure I would want to include Duchene in a deal for Landeskog.

Great season so far. Sens are hanging really tough.

I love Evander Kane. I know all the stories. I think he is a horse and I would still do deal for him (even ahead of Duchene). if you could get the right package, it might be a solid fit in getting that missing power forward.

I have a hard time taking g the results of this graph seriously considering they've ranked the age and potential prospect success of a team that doesnt actually have any players or prospects yet.

definitely impressive, but like you said, given his background is it sustainable or just a good year.

maybe it's the "Hammond factor" but I'm always skeptical of guys coming 'out of nowhere' and putting up unexpected numbers. maybe brown ends up being great for you guys, who knows.

- sensarmy_11

Umm what? His background isn't anything you suggest. You sure you know what you're talking about?

Guy put up outstanding numbers in the ohl, was top scoring rookie in the ahl and nearly a ppg player in his second ahl year. None of this is out of the blue. His background says he is and was capable

He was a 6th Rd pick who put up good numbers as a 20 year old over aged Jr player......was pretty avg til then. Hardly an elite can't miss prospect. Not sure the relevance of AHL numbers......puempel put up really good ahl numbers too.

We were talking about top end prospects, not guys having ok years in the bottom six

Its draft pick values, since they are included in this draft they will have value to be ranked. The age is probably league avg until you know who they get

Above is a current-ish projection for each team’s total expected draft pick values. A number of completely debatable assumptions have been made, including the actual draft order, the fourth overall selection to the Vegas Golden Knights, no trades of first round choices, and Columbus as the Stanley Cup Champions (thereby choosing last)

picks are not set yet so ranked on standings at the time

So, looks like Montreal free fall continues. I think we will discover that Therrien was never the problem. Sens, Leafs, Bruins and Panthers are all positioned to run down the Canadiens in the stretch drive.

Also, the media and fan scene in Montreal is desperate and watch for them to try a Hail Mary trade to try and salvage their season.

It is ugly and getting worse.

While there is some truth to saying good junior numbers don't guarantee success, saying he had "good" numbers is selling him a little short. He was the top scoring player in all of Canadian junior hockey that year. Not an elite can't miss prospect, but if you think he came out of nowhere, you're an idiot. Which is true, and just as much an understatement as saying he had good numbers, given that you're a full blown retard.

Pierre Maguire is an idiot. And was up for the GM job in Ottawa at one point, wasn't he?

No one thinks the Sens are contenders. No one.

Really! As far back as November there was talk about the Sens being the dark horse contender that knows how to win. McGuire says there is lots of chatter around the league about the Sens being a really tough match.

You might find this a useful read on the subject. Oops, forgot, you said it can't exist because only McGuire thinks this way.

That article is pure silliness. Dark horse contenders? They've named 9 teams as favourites, and then another 8 as dark horses? They're considering more teams contenders than there are playoff spots. What kind of horse poop is that?

Really. So, they designate Ottawa as the first dark horse contender after naming their 8 contenders. You said "only" Pierre McGuire has called Ottawa the dark horse contender to emerge from the East. Yet, McGuire says that "lots" of insiders are talking lots of love over this Ottawa team and a possible playoff run.

Did you want rephrase what you had actually meant to say?

I think what he meant is, only an idiot would classify the sens as contenders.

Well I guess we are into a full moon because there is lots of lunacy and talk about the Sens continuing to look stronger as the season goes forward.

I think the Sens will do a deal for either Duchene or Landeskog (more likely).

Sens are 2 points out of first with 3 games in hand. Canadiens' fans can handle it. Situation is more problematic for Leaf fans.

First place in the Atlantic means (frank) all as far as contender-ship

And Leafs fans don't have a problem with the prospect of Ottawa blowing its already shoddy future on an ill conceived attempt to win now. It's funny, actually.
