Edit: the conference change one is particularly hilarious as you are insinuating that scouts aren't seeing the other conference and that teams from opposite conference haw no clue who the teams from other conferences are.

- burn

When you're competing for a playoff spot within your Division/Conference.......it just make much more sense to scout (prepare books) players and teams that you play the most. Why would a team pour as much scouting resources into a western conference team, that you play twice in a season, as you would for a team within your own division?

How many times have we seen a player move to a different conference and excel, in part because of the unfamiliarity the opposing teams have on him?

For an example, off the top of my head, Tyler Seguin had his best season so far, in his first season in a new conference..............not saying it's the only reason, but a part of it.

I've heard this topic discussed many times on Sports talk Radio by former NHLers who say the conferences are different and when making the switch it takes teams a while so adjust to it, and part of it is never having played against a certain player enough.

Let's see how Spezza's next season pans out, and then tell me that the checking lines in the Western Conference are as familiar with him as those in the East.

Why would coaches and scouts spend precious video reviewing/preparation time on teams/players in the regular season that they only face twice, as they do on those in their on division?

Like I said, I've heard this discussed numerous time on Sport talk radio, with former NHLers.

You can choose to dismiss it, so that you can insult me. Also if you believe NHL teams scout and spend resources equally vs the 29 other teams, they you can believe that too.

It's only logical for the leafs to send scouts and review the Wings, Habs and other teams they compete with for a playoff spot, MORE than they would the Coyotes, Oilers and other teams they play twice in a season (no "four point games")

If you've never heard former NHLers talk about this, then in your world it didn't happen I guess eh?

not talking about Lehner at all. Conversation about goalies .

Yes I'm the not bright one and a liar, do you also claim that the backup starter is part of your family or did you pick and chose what art of that sentence you want to distort?

The poster called Anderson a backup numerous times previous in posts you quoted. He's the backup that is starting he is referring to. Anyone with a brain can see it. Lehner is a 23 yr old and is coincided young in nhl ( particularly) for a goalie

He's not starting. Hence the unperforming part. Sens fans yapped about how great he was for so long, you'd think he'd be starting by now. He's an underperforming kid.

If that immediately sparked thoughts of some other underperforming kids that you're familiar with, that's not my problem, it's yours.
