I love that you have to refer to banners and insulting the city, so that you can avoid admitting that your team is a raging tire fire too.

I've acknowledged that my team is bad right now....but at least they're heading in the right direction. your amazing team already has 77 million committed next year, basically meaning there is no room to improve on being a team that loses to a Zamboni driver.

enjoy focusing on banners and CFL teams while your expensive team with zero character or "give a damn" continues to flounder as a playoff bubble team and easy 1st round exit.

- sensarmy_11

the Leafs are not "bad" though. Not playing well right now. And definitely not cup favourites either.

You keep yapping about the Leafs. You THINK you're team is heading in the right direction, but I'm not so sure. A couple of decent young players, but I don't see anything that projects to be an elite player. sens fans will say Chabot, but he's 23 years old, and sens fans have the hot start he had last year in their heads. this year, he really hasn't been anything special (and I always thought sens fans were overhyping him anyway). Brannstrom, well, he's a 2017 draft pick, and isn't really showing anything better than fellow 2017 draft pick Liljegren, and is quite clearly behind 2018 pick Rasmus Sandin......

So what then? Brady Tkachuk? What's he gonna hit, like 50 points? What's his production tracking like as a player? Kasperi Kapanen? Wow, I'm amazed!!!!!!

I know it kills you that basically every expert says that Ottawa is heading in the right direction, is LOADED with young talent....which is going to get significantly better after this draft.......but go ahead, keep telling yourself that they don't. I know you know the truth.

oh, and the leafs WISH they had a player like Tkachuk on their team

I wouldn't mind Tkachuk on the team. But kill? No. Let's not get out of hand. He adds some grit, which would be nice, but it's not like he'd be our best winger. Or even our second best. Arguable he'd even be our third.

So whatever, he'd be nice for our second line, but if you wanna go back and read again, I said I don't see anything that projects into an elite player. He may be young, but he's still probably going to finish in the 50 point range. He's nothing spectacular.

i cringe watching them do this but i doubt it's too many of them. i feel like if i looked at their actual team thread it's a bunch of people lamenting their situation but hopeful that it can turn around soon through all the draft picks. but in this thread it's just guys who have trapped themselves in an argument they feel like they can't get out of. oh and dErps, who is just learning disabled.

the problems go so far beyond the roster. And the few prospects they have, don't really strike me as all that great. Certainly not enough to compensate for the organizational mess, and really, nothing on the high end of that group that compares to many other groups. If you take the top 2 or 3 prospects, and compare to everyone else's 2 or 3, is it really all that phenomenal? not to me. maybe 8 or 10 teams with better high end prospects.

I doubt anyone is excited about the current NHL roster (minus Chabot and Tkachuk).....they're excited about the future roster.

sort of like the leafs were in 15/16, 16/17......when literally the only bright spot on your NHL roster was Rielly, and all your hopes and prayers were dependant on draft picks

I mean, virtually every expert has them pegged as a top 5 group of prospects......but prock doesn't think much of them.

it's official, i'm giving up on them

Unfortunately, you need a new owner. If the team was sold, then I would be looking forward to the future were I a Sens fan.

It's baffling. The sens are the biggest tire fire in the NHL, and probably shouldn't be in the NHL. But yet here you have these morons claiming the opposite.

the best thing would be if he sold and then a quebec team came back so there'd be good in-province rivalries up there again.

Ottawa Senators 0.5833 P% 14th overall
leafs 0.4464 P% 29th overll

Ottawa Senators in better position.

talk all you want about prospects and the AHL affiliates, this thread is about the NHL teams.

Ottawa went thought it's re-build a number of years ago, and the leafs just started theirs..... none of us can measure the future success either re-build, so speculation on the future is futile. leaf fans cannot accept the fact that over the past decade Ottawa has been the better team of the two, based on results on the NHL ice............so they keep telling everyone how much better their team will be in the future, and have been doing so for 10 years now................ still waiting.

This thread is over 10 years old. Think about it, this started well before the Kessel trade.......the first one.

At the beginning of the thread it was mentioned the Leafs were in a better position for a rebuild. Fair enough, but the Sens were less than two seasons from a SCF appearance. Since then, only one of those teams has even won a playoff series.

That same team now has 3 1st round draft picks upcoming, quite possibly 2 in the top 5. It seems to me that's a fairly quick turnaround, despite the multitude of high priced stars in Toronto that have yet to win a series.

For all the laughing you do at the expense of the Senators, they can really kick some ass in this draft alone.

Yes but 1) the draft is no guarantee and 2) If the players do turn out to be stars how do they afford them.

There was approximately 700 billion comments on this board about how the Leafs wouldn't be able to afford 4 stars, and ice a team. It's debatable that they even *should* have paid them all.

Saying Ottawa has the potential of having a bunch of young stars also means they face the same dilemma eventually, only with a cheap-ass owner.

When some rich conglomerate, willing to spend comes in a builds a new arena with adequate parking (good lord.) then I will believe in this Ottawa rebuild.
