Sens blogger leaving the site. Leafs blogger is still MiB.

Might have to give the edge to the Sens on this one.

Sens about to knock off Winnipeg. Erik Karlsson is a shoe-in for the Conn Smythe and they have the 6 best players not in the NHL.

definitely Sens

Marchessault and the Ottawa Sens are about to play for the Cup against Ovechkin and the Belleville Sens.

No way the Leafs can compete with that.

Wait until the 4 best players not in the NHL join the Sens this summer.

Marlies with back to back sweeps in rounds 2 and 3 of the Calder Cup playoffs.

Still don't like their chances of winning it all though. I can't even remember the last time I heard that Belleville lost.

Sens must be in a better situation.

Belleville is undefeated in this year's playoffs and is about to play against Ottawa for the Stanley cup.

Karlsson, Duchene, Stone, all re-signed for 4.5 million for 8 years. The 3.5 best players not in the NHL are playing for the Sens next year and they are drafting Dahlin 1st overall.

Hahaha Laffs fans.

In all seriousness though, if they draft Bouchard 4th overall and then draft Merkely or Kravtsov 22nd, it's a really good draft for them.

So lets hope they take Tkachuk 4th and McLeod 22nd.

Ottawa is not as bad as their record last year.

The challenge going forward will be re-signing people, starting with Karlsson, but it doesn't end there.

I don't think they'll be bottom 3 again next year.

The team that I think should be much better than it is, is Buffalo I could see them becoming a very good team.

Yeah, saw that.

First of all... that won't fix all the problems.
Second, hoping for that is like basing your retirement plan on winning the lottery.

Best to assume it isn't happening. How often do teams change ownership?

Also a new owner, could very likely mean a new location and we saw how hard the league has fought to keep AZ.

You don't think so? 'Cause I do. When they don't have goaltending standing on their head, they're not a good team.

I don't see Anderson or Condom getting any better. Their defense can't play defense to save their lives. I think they'll easily be one of the worst teams in the league next season. Which is funny 'cause they don't have their 1st round pick.

I think Buffalo will be better but they really need better goaltending, too. And their defense aren't very good defensively, either.

Maybe not bottom-3, but bottom-10 seems likely.

I think bottom 5 easily.

Even if their old ass goalie has a bit of a bounce back season I can't see any notable improvements through free agency under this ownership and management has made one poor decision after another making improvement by trade unlikely.

So given the above, which teams decline to an extent that some minor increase in the Sens point totals brings them up out of the basement?

With the possibility for a greater improvement over last season from a far younger Lehner as compared to Anderson being far more likely, IMO, plus a healthy Eichel and the addition of Dahlin, I think Buffalo finishes ahead of the Sens.

A full season from Rantaa and further development from Strome, Domi, Chychrun keeps Arizona above Ottawa.

A bounce back season from Price and a healthy Weber keep Montreal ahead plus there could be some improvements made at the draft between their pick and trade chips like Patches.

DET is pretty terrible.

VAN faltered after playing over their heads early in the season and lost the twins who were still very productive. But they'll also get Boeser back and Pettersson could be a star in the making.

If the Isles lose JT they'll plummet in the standings.

Carolina is probably going to get worse based on Waddel's track record.

The Rangers could go full rebuild but not sure while they still have Lundqvist.

There's always room for Edmonton to get worse but McDavid keeps them from being atrocious.

So maybe: VAN, DET, NYI, CAR? And those are all just maybes for me.

The more I think about it the more I'm convinced that Colorado will be adding an impact player from next year's draft at Ottawa's expense.

I have it from a very good source in the Senators coaching staff that Ben Harpur has a very good chance of becoming the next Zdeno Chara.

Spatso was too fragile to handle the Senators collapse.

D'oops was reluctantly forced to admit that there was nothing he could reasonably argue anymore so he simply started ridiculous trolling.

The sad part is that his "ridiculous" trolling read a lot like most of his serious attempts to debate the issue.
