By what measuring stick do you claim the leafs have the "top management team"?

Also, can you give us an timeline estimate as to when having the " top prospect pool " translates into being a "true contender"

List of top 10 Active Coaches in NHL ranked by Points Percentage

Bruce Boudreau .654
Dan Bylsma .653
Jeff Blashill .633
Dave Cameron .629
Todd McLellan .628
Mike Babcock .622
Joel Quenneville .615
Claude Julien .612
Ken Hitchcock .606
Mike Johnston .595

So perhaps the leafs should have gone after Dan Bylsma, and saved a few bucks, rather than pandering to their fan base who were demanding the Start Power that the media had pumped Babcock up to be.

No, they will eventually get their injured (veteran) players back, and get back to form sooner or later.......also Hammond will be available soon to spell Anderson once in while, or as needed.

Sens should complete for a divisional playoff spot, or at least a WC spot.

leafs are headed for the basement, and perhaps they can get a break in the lottery, and be in the Sens situation in 5 to 8 years from now.

only what....4-7 years to go?

so quiet these days...

Sens couldn't manage a goal against a team with like 5 regulars out of the lineup.

No wonder the derp and chirp has completely dried up.

I think you need to look at just how strongly the Sens are dealing with the short term problem of having to start the season without the planet's very best Dman in the line up. We are very pleased. We are especially pleased by all the young guys stepping up. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

Leaf fans saying same things they have always said. Sens fans knowing the real conversation starts in December. This year the Leafs will be part of the discussion. But they will lose a game before the season is over.

- spatso

So what's the conversation we are starting?

Sens with 9 wins and 18 losses.

i believe that's 2x as many losses as wins. D'oops, can you double check my math?

Sens good
Duchene got 2 points
Sens got another loser point

The bad
1 Duchene point was off a fortunate bounce right onto his stick and the other was in a goalie-pulled scramble.
Duchene's gaff led to the OT goal against
Sens had to scramble yet again and get the lucky bounce, goalie-pulled goal. This looks a lot like last year's playoffs

Ottawa's win came when they scored 6 goals on like 24 shots, and their other point in the last 11 (10?) games was earned in the dieing seconds.

That is not a recipe for any kind of hope whatoever.

The crescendo of Spatso's troll job will be to re-emerge as a Leaf fan and completely ignore the years he spent trying to belittle them.

I'm gonna have to go with the Leafs.

The Sens can't even score goals. They're just awful. Not much of a future either.

So it's all about your opinion .............. and you as a leaf fan will always see the leafs in a better situation ........... as you did when they finished dead freaking last in the league ........ so it's pointless to discuss this with you ............ as there is no scenario, in your spinning mind, when you could ever bring yourself to entertain the fact that perhaps, just maybe, the Senators would be in a better situation.

I'll bet that if the Senators had advanced to the Finals and won the Cup, even then you would not have the ability to state that they were in a better situation, even if they were circling the ice, passing the Cup around.

The Senators were rebuilt last year around Karlsson. Not many people realize how good they were once they hit the third period. I believe the Senators are more like the team that we saw in the playoffs rather than the regular season.

I believe the Sens fight with Tampa for 1st in the Division. Talk is fun...but scoreboard begins in a little over three weeks.

- spatso

it sure is. so are the things you believe.

So last season's results don't point to the Senators being the better of the two Ontario teams?

Senators finished higher in the standing and played 3 rounds in the playoffs ........... did the leafs do better than that?

Or is that going to far back for you?

How about the "Way Too Early 2017-2018 NHL Power Rankings " . that have the
Senators ranked higher than the leafs???

https://www.gnghockey.com...hl-power-rankings-part-1/

(prediction) you will dismiss these predicted power rankings, because they have the leafs ranked lower ................. but would do the opposite if they had the Senators ranked lower.

So the most recent measuring stick, the standing at the end of last season, and last season's playoffs clearly show that the Senators were the better of the two Ontario based teams.

Onel, the Senators, finished the Season with
home ice in the first round, and advanced to the ECFs, the leafs finished in a WC spot, and were eliminated in the first round.

Do you have another way to clearly showing which team is better than the other?

If all you have, to laud over the Senators, is hypothetical non-signings in the future , then you have nothing.

Sure enjoyed watching the Senators in the ECF, coming within one goal, in double overtime, in game seven, from advancing to the Stanley Cup Finals, for the first time in 10 years .................... what's it been now for the leafs, more than 50 years?

- D0PPELGANGER

You don't seem to be enjoying anything these days. Must be the better situation thing.

Wow, watching the Sens advance so much further than the leafs must have really hurt.
You can't trash their achievements on the ice, as they've so much better than leafs for over 12 of 13 years now ............ so you have to resort to who has/had naming rights to the Arena and guessing who will or will not sign with the Sens in the future.

Keep it up, it just shows how much the Sens success gets under your skin.

Always use Leaf summer talk to set up the season. Season starts, Leafs crap the bed and we get to watch the logical contortions of the same guys trying to explain outcomes.

Funny reading the current postings. You would not think that the Sens went to Conference finals and were the only team to give the Penguins a serious challenge throughs the playoffs. Ottawa is a team built to win.

We are only 6 weeks away from being able to talk scoreboard. However, I do encourage that you continue with the blue bluster and set up what might be the next great Leaf collapse.

Losing is part of the Leaf culture.

Losing is a way for some sports franchises.

Need to see if last year was just another year of Leaf hype or if they can become a serious contender.

How many years ago did the Leafs collapse in the playoff game against Boston?

I think Leaf fans are about to discover some of the "fail" moments the Oilers have known over the transition years.

It is always best to ignore how well a rival team does in the playoffs. leaf fans are masters at this.
- D0PPELGANGER

Yea that run last season wasn't the Cinderella we all said it was. Don't Leaf fans look like idiots today. It's definitely not sens fans ignoring anything.
