No my bold faced lying friend, you said ( above ) "you pretended the Leafs traded away 2 1sts and a 2nd for nothing"

Are you trying to convince anyone here that I "pretended" Kessel was not involved in the "Kessel for Seguin/Hamilton/Knight trade?

If you cannot post one quoted post of mine to support your false claim, then you've just proven one of two things...............either you're stupid, or a liar.

- Doppleganger

I'm neither- Just many many posts where you only talked about what they gave up and not what they got- I'm not as sad as you, so I'm not going to go back and dig it up... unlike you, I legitimately do have better things to do with my day.

You can deny the truth all you want, it's your specialty, but it doesn't change that it's the truth.

But the fact that you had to resort to insults there says it all, doesn't it.

That's a little harsh.

There are a some good young players in the leafs system.

But some of the veteran players do not seem to being buying into the team defensive concept that Carlyle has known for prior to his arrival in toronto.

And when these players are not held responsible for not playing defensively, then I point at the coaching staff.

I was being intentionally harsh, basically doing a mirror-job of Prock's typical posts lately. In all other cases I do try to be objective and fair to the Leafs. I like their fans.

How can any Leaf fan dispute this.
What a F**king joke this team is.
I have seen bad leaf teams over 40 years but nothing this pathetic group.Just talk of how they play in their own end is enough said. How can NHL coaches allow this to happen night after night is inexcusable.
Even when they would win a few it was hardly convincing. If Nonis says he wants to see this group together and healthy tells me he should go packing too!
I don't see how this can be fixed especially when the players don't give a damn.

I choose to try not dropping down to his and glucky's level.

I have pity for delusional leaf fans, who cannot see anything wrong with the players on the team they support, but everything wrong with the Senators.

They got a bit too cocky this season, after making the playoffs last year, in a gimmicky lockout shortened season.

I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that if it had been an 82 game season, the leafs would have not waited until the last 10 minutes of a game seven in the playoffs to choke away their season, it would have happened just as they've been doing it for the past decade, late in season.

However I can see why they're so envious of the Senators organization, and their fans who support a team that has made the playoffs 6 times in the past 10 years, never missing in consecutive years, playing 56 playoff games including a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Compared to the leafs 7 playoff games in the past ten years, I see why they measure their team vs their much more successful Provincial rival, it's only natural for them to be so resentful of the Senators success, as an organization, when compared to the gong show that the leafs have been for a decade now.

Haha. Pure stupidity. The leafs were known for slow starts and late season pushes for several years.

Also comical a Sens fans yapping about choking. Seems to me they whooped the Sens in the playoffs as a lower seed, I recall.

Compared to the leafs 7 playoff games (in the past ten years), the Senators are miles and miles ahead, when looking at the past ten years.

How does it feel that horrible sens team that is a budget team not even spending to the cap is only a few points behind the great leafs

again, if that's the best selling off a bunch of their picks can get them, when their set to lose their top players in the next year, not a big deal.

so were the leafs.

both of these teams, right now, suck

the difference between these two teams moving forward is:

toronto is burried under a crap ton of AWFUL contracts....and are likely going to add another one when they sign boland to twice what he's worth. so there won't be any room to improve this team.

ottawa, if they can get their owner to spend, has a TON of cap space, and therefor have the ability to improve

it's also important to note that ottawa has a better system and group of prospects coming through the system. the leafs pretty much have zilch in their farm system right now, beyond maybe holland (who carlyle seems not to like anyways).......and if rumours are true.........will probably also lose 2 of their best young players this offseason. there are a couple of decent prospects, not nobody that projects to be anywhere near an impact player....mostly just bottom pairing and bottom six players.

ottawa doesnt' have an elite system, but still have a few guys who look like they'll be good NHL players in the very near future (lazar, puempel, claessen, pageau)

ottawa also has a younger core of players, some of whom have barely begun to develop yet. lehner - 22, karlsson - 22, turris - 24, ceci - 20, zibanejad - 20, ryan 27

the leafs core is by no means old, but it is older than ottawas. kessel - 26, jvr - 24, bozak - 28, clarkson - 30, phaneuf - 28, rielly - 20, kadri - 23, gardiner - 23, bernier - 25.....i include clarkson because, let's face it, he's gonna be a leaf player for the next 7 years.....like it or not, he's part of your core. also important to note that, it's unlikely that either gardiner, kadri, or both, are back next season.

like i said, it's not an old core, but not exactly a young one either. a lot of those guys are in their prime right now, and not likely to get much better.

i think both of these teams are incredibly similar. both have excellent offense, terrible defense, and other than the great start by bernier, pretty inconsistent goaltending.

I think the difference between the two teams right now is negligible, however, i think the sens are set up better moving forward. if melnyk goes all tight-wad again, then that could change, but with 2 massive new TV deals and a rising cap, it's hard to believe he wont' spend.

No they're not. Clarkson is a bad contract. Otherwise, whether you'd like to think so or not, Phaneuf is one of the better two way defenseman around. It's funny how Sens fans like to yap and yap about advanced stats, but ignore that he plays the toughest minutes in the league, and doesn't have astronomical amounts of goals scored on him like your 'star' dman, who is AHL level defensively.

Wouldn't you think $6.5M is a lot for a one dimensional defenseman who can't defend at an NHL level?

phaneuf is not worth anywhere CLOSE to what he's paid. perhaps you should look to your fellow leaf fans, who all agree with me...not you. he's a 5-5.5 mil dman at most. you also have him signed until the year 2021, which is even worse then the amount of money.

you also have lupul at 5.5 for another 4-5 years. you're probably gonna have boland at 5 mil for 6-8 years (cuz leaf management is ABSOLUTELY that stupid), gleason at 4 mil (the guy is worse than komisarek was).

your team (assuming they sign boland, which they will) has almost 22 million invested in phaneuf, lupul, boland, clarkson, and gleason......that is a lot of BAD contracts.

the leafs already have over 50 million commited next year, and have 10 or 11 FA's

your cap situation is a mess, and only an idiot or a homer wouldn't realize that...........oh wait, that's right

If phaneuf isn't, karlsson isn't. You shouldn't be paying that to a guy who can't defend at an NHL level.

Lupul would be your best winger.

Its not a bad situation at all. They don't have a single key forward to sign for years. A couple of dmen, but they can easily trade a dman like Gardiner or Fransin, given the number of D prospects they have ready, or near to.

Phaneuf was playing like a top ten at beginning of year, which is what I said. Either way, hes been better than Karlsson. Number one in the league for goals against, and goals against even strength. By far.

Wait, what?? Leafs have nothing but the sens are loaded?? Not seeing much for the sens to be called loaded and the leafs zilch. If the Leafs have zilch then the sens have as well. I don't see any elite talent there either.

who said loaded, i said the sens have 2-3 guys who look ready to be good NHL players in the near future.

and what did i lie about regarding the leafs, what good young prospects do the leafs have (other than rielly, who's already in the NHL) who look to be good NHL players in the near future?

as for the 2 players likely to not be back.....everything i've heard from analysts (dreger, mackenzie, etc) are that one of, or both, of gardiner and kadri will likely be moved in the offseason.

Sure as hell not in the Sens system. You guys will be bottom ten. And with so few picks at the draft, passed by more teams, lower in the fall.

Percy, Finn Granberg, Brown, Leivo, McKegg...... A few. Not elite by any stretch, but plenty of legit NHL prospects.

Saying they have none is shear asinine.

Trading them means losing them??? They will get nothing for them?? They wont have equally good players replacing them??

Oh, and the "Experts" said.... just like the experts said that Luongo to the leafs was "DONE" as soon as the lockout was over. Not buying it. It's all about viewership and drumming up hits.
