The math is not wrong. That is the average age of the team, taking into account non-roster players.

Nobody is arguing with that.

The argument boils down to 3 key points:

1)non-roster players aren't relevant
2)this doesn't take into account importance of a player(ie 20 year old Matthews is more important than late-30s spare part Moore)
3)anyone who wasn't an idiot or troll would recognize points 1 and 2 before posting.

Leafs fans used to cling to stuff like that to claim some sort of victory, pre-season wins, being the youngest team... anything to distract from the actual things that matter. What a great reversal. spatso is trying to claim those wins now

I was once a part of the huge echo chamber comprised of Leaf hockey fans. It was supported at all levels by a media that has an overwhelming self interest in having the Leafs succeed.

In the last few days I have seen quotes declaring this version of the Leafs as one of the best NHL teams of all time.

All of this hype mixed into the echo chamber spews out a toxic hubris that invariably leads to a toxic hubris. Problem is that hubris requires that ascend beyond all limits. So, all accomplishment get discounted. Success is avoided.

I never thought of having a young team as a win. I've only seen it as a sign that the team has room to improve, or as an explanation for how they're playing.

You have time to post this...

But you have yet to manage to find any quote even remotely close to what you accused me of saying.

Are you prepared to admit you just make up poop when you have no valid points.

It is not the first time one of them can't recognize sarcasm.

The anti-Leaf bias is so strong that whatever they cook up in their heads is automatically true. So, even f you say something outrageously positive about the Leafs, they think that you and the whole Leafs fan base really means it.

I am building up to my Black Friday purchase of a Big Screen TV. We don't have actual prices but a very good idea of the range for each class of tv.

It looks to me like I can buy the identical tv in the USA + pay the local state sales tax (4% NC) + exchange rate (25%) + canadian hst (5%) when crossing the border. My end cost can still be 25% lower than buying in Ottawa and paying sales tax.

Does anybody have any experience in buying and transporting big item over border?

Hilarious. I love how Jay & Dan are telling Leafs haters to get used to it. The Leafs are good and they're gonna be the talk of their town and yours, too.

This one time many years ago we went to the US to buy a TV (this was when TVs were huge heavy things), we were in an RV and when we got back to the RV it wouldnt fit through the door so we had to remove it from the box and slide it though the larger side window.

I dont think my parents thought it through fully before buying it.

Hope that helps

you can get a really big padded envelope for most TVs these days. Just needs a stamp.

You don't really measure team success by the number of goals you score. Winning is conditioned by your team success in limiting the opposing team's scoring. It is mind boggling that Leaf fans say Ottawa is not as good a team without Karlsson in the line up. Like nobody in Ottawa was aware of just how incredibly gifted Karlsson is.

Really. I don't think there is any player as important to their team as Karlsson is to Ottawa. The Sens team concept is built entirely around his game.

I think the absence of Karlsson to start the season is going to help down the road. It gives him some additional rest. It also has allowed for some of the young guys to step up and grow their game. Will be interesting to see how much the Sens are able to lift their competitiveness when he returns to the line up.

In the TSN listing of top NHL players they said there are three great superstars in the NHL. #1 McDavid #2 Crosby and #3 Karlsson. They pointed out there is a huge gap from #3 down to #4.

Is anybody surprised that Ottawa needs to adapt to compensate for the loss of one of the great stars on the NHL.
