I won't start speculating on who really needs him, best return based on how the team is playing , I'd say a goaltender in their early 20's who can compete with Merz and Tary for the starting role.
Unfortunately he's probably getting dumped for picks .

Zak, IMO most of the national NHL media does not think the CBJ as an NHL team, so I don't care about any rumors. He's staying in Columbus or Cleveland and will not be traded. He will be up with the big club after the trade deadline and a few trades are made by the team. If the team is playing well, they may not trade anyone, and that's all good too.
He's a 20 yr. old d-man with great potential, no way he is getting traded. |

Boy, some of you guys really value Jiricek.
If he's unhappy in Columbus, how do you think he's going to do under Tortorella in Philly? Especially the first time he gets scratched?
Flyers give a second rounder and (pick from a handful of other players destined to play in the AHL forever....).
This trade does nothing for the Flyers short-term. I'd MUCH rather see Briere work out a trade for Zegras, but then you have cap-space to deal with, so unless Danny can work out some kind of 3 way trade and get either Columbus or Anaheim to retain some salary, I kind of fail to see the point in this trade.

Would they trade with the Leafs? I'm picturing Topi Neimala and Dennis Hildeby. |

Men,
Why would you think that GMDW would trade a potential #1 d-man who is 20 years old to a team in the same division as the CBJ? That makes no sense, and the CBJ is not a minor league affiliate for the rest of the NHL.
He's not going anywhere until the trade deadline, and the move is most likely from Cleveland to Columbus.
(Now, if the Pens want to send Crosby to Columbus and eat half of his salary for 3 seasons the CBJ might take that deal ) |

Devon Levi! - Buff36
I don't think CBJ would do that. Levi might be a good goaltending prospect but if I were a GM, I'd much rather have a promising young D man than an unproven G prospect. Look how many times over the last couple of decades a top G prospect has never amounted to much (or if they do, it tends to take a loooong time). Like Chet Pickard, Jack Campbell, Spencer Knight, Thomas Mccollum, Koskinen, Visentin, Subban, Fucale, etc. |

If I am in charge in Columbus, I wanna get him out of the Division / Conference, just in case I am making a huge mistake.
I’m also looking at maybe covering my backside on the Lindstrom situation sooner rather than later…
Considering the value added placed on big body right handed d-men…

Well, I was wrong about this, and it looks like the CBJ got about as good a return at they could. Now that that controversy is over, let's move on to other things, like when OSU FB coach Ryan Day will get fired. |
