That’s also how I thought it worked until i learned otherwise about 24 hours ago…

Post trade deadline the player has to be on a teams reserve list in order for the team to then be able to offer 8 years, so Guentzel can’t get more than 7 years from Tampa.

No ... teams can only offer an 8th year if the player was with them as of the trade deadline.

They can sign both, assuming the players consider the FLA 0% income tax. Guentzel at $7M and Stamkos at $7M would work given the trades they made to move out a ton of cash.
