He's 18. And he weighs 180-185ibs. How much bigger do you want him to be at 18?

Physical? He drives the net and protects the puck. This notion that every player needs to be grinders is outlandish.

- Elbows15

I'm just saying 5'11 and listed at 180 lbs is not a lot. And that is if you believe he even hits 180, most the time they exaggerate. Crosby was listed at 193 lbs when he was drafted at a younger at 17. Nathan MacKinnon was 6 foot and ~200 lbs at age 17 and the extra 10-20 lbs makes a difference. Bedard was listed at 5'10 and 185 and we watched him get knocked down rather easily at the NHL level all season.

Nobody said anything about grinders, so not sure where you were going with that.

I'm not saying Demidov won't be a decent pick for whichever team picks him, but I would be shocked if he compares in leg strength to guys like Mac/Crosby at the same age with his smaller size. He might look impressive driving the net against 16-20 year old players in Russian Jr. He might get to that level of strength and size, but some scouting reports have already highlighted how he has issues defensively because of his size. He is probably going to be a good player, but his size if accurate isn't that impressive.

That Wyatt Johnston is having a helluva playoffs, picks the puck from Makar ends up scoring the shorty. Great draft pick by the Stars.

Zach, you did a good job on this and really nice to see you're gonna spotlight a bunch of other prospects.......

A couple more knocks on Lindstrom is he doesn't have that much a body of work with only one Worlds with Canada besides his shortened season this yr with 32 games, lhis rookie yr 61 and 35 games in Minor Hockey before that as a 16 yr old.

Some question his IQ. One scout said of that if he has some IQ you have a 1C beast if not a solid 2C. Indeed.......

Guess he had injured his back some time this yr too. Could be, maybe probably, it was just a hockey injury and not structural but his medicals at the combine are gonna be gone over closely.

This kid can do it any way you wanna. Wide open or station to station along the walls and he's really good as a net front guy. Gets a lotta points that way, think Krieder as both are big and tough enough to battle in the crease and fly past you on the edge.

I'm fine with the pick, even at #2, but still think they go Dman.

Toews and Nichushkin out, I'm thinking this isn't going to end well for the Avs.

Avs are lucky to be only down 1-0, being outplayed by Dallas and then some.

Nine goals in eight playoff games, that’s a big blow for the Avs. Hope he gets clean, hate seeing that.

Denis Savard was supposedly a gamble pick due to his size...

Hello, Ricobuddy!
I wondered if you heard the intermission 2nd intermission in the Chalpionship game and Eiserman got interviewed because he scored? He referred to himself in the 3rd party when he said, "Cole Eiserman has to continue to be Cole Eiserman..."

Health issues are very concerning. There is a rumor that he is dealing with herniated disc but back issues anyway.

Lesh? Demi? Silly? Would be the 3 players I would look at #2.

After that there is always someone who starts sliding on draft day. Be ready to grab that foward by trading picks or prospects. KD has 1sts and 2nds this year and next and D prospects. Spend a little to get a 3rd 1st rounder this year or to move up from the Tampa pick.

Also the Stars have a lot of high skill level, high hockey IQ, leader, veteran players. That helps to develop and assimilate younger players. That is why losing Hall and Perry hurt so much last year. I hope the Hawks can add a couple of that type in this offseason (even if they have to overpay a little).

I am leaning toward Lesh.

Defense:
Jones, Vlasic, Lesh top 3.
Murphy a so so veteran while the prospects develop.
And a slew of prospects fighting for the other spots. Maybe a number of them ride the Rockford shuttle for a year or two.

Trade into the mid 1st round and find your forward. Sign a 2nd line forward that can score and sign another middle 6 on short term deals even if you have to overpay.

I was reading about the Stars drafting philosophy. The head scout Joe McDonnell (who was head scout of the Red Wings from 20 03-04 till hired by Nill (who was in the Red Wings front office at the same time) when he got the GM job in 2013. Instead of a long recap of the article I will link it here.

Rico, I think you especially will find the article interesting;

I needed one more player to take a look at and was more interested in taking a look at international prospects. Helenius is a player I felt would be an interesting research subject.

Helenius could maybe fall to 20. OR if the Sharks are looking for volume maybe they trade 14 for 20 for a second and third to throw two more darts.

They really struck gold with the Robertson, Heiskanen, Oettinger draft. Then repeated with stankoven and Johnston. Hopefully the hawks have multiple drafts we can look back at with similar fuzzy memories like the Korchinski/Nazar, Bedard/Moore, and 2024 draft. Kind of hoping we move up with that second pick to get someone of that mushy second tier.
One thing Dallas has that we don’t is players excelling past the age of 30. Benn, Seguin, Pavelski, Duchene, and more are all good contributors. We need to add a few players of similar caliber just to begin to replicate Dallas’s model. Reinhart or Guentzel, Lindholm or Wennberg, Debrusk or Mantha at forward. On D there’s Skjei and Grzelcyk on the left side or Pesce or Montour on the right.
We could easily outbid any team for these guys, who almost all will want mega-deals and eventually hamstring our cap situation. Getting someone on a four year deal would be manageable, so maybe move up the age scale to Tanev, Tarasenko, Marchessault, Dillon, Schultz, OEL
