I'm glad the Griffins won this game. Their talent / depth is showing as they beat a very good Rockford team. Cossa bounced back really well after one bad game. He was phenomenal in the 3rd period and stood on his head to keep the lead for his team. The officiating for this series has been absolutely horrible. Worst I've ever seen in the AHL. Let's pray these clowns will not be officiating the Griffins next series. The no-calls against GR were mind boggling. Even the announcers were stunned as to how bad it was.

I was shocked at how bad it was. 2 games ago when Cossa got drilled and no call was bad but today was next level bad

Just need Berggren to keep playing well so his trade value can get something useful in return.

I am wondering what forced out players are available from the losing teams from round 1. Could be Marner, Bert, Domi, Stammer, Duclair, Mott (replace Fish), Dumba, Toffoli, Monahan, DeMelo, Carrier, Zucker, Mantha, Stephenson, William Karlsson may be traded, Arvidsson, Matt Roy.....There are others, I only listed the ones I thought might interest the Wings.

One of my favorite things to watch each year is the videos of masses of Toronto fans the moment they get knocked out of the playoffs. There are only two teams I generally root against, and that's Toronto and NYR and it's entirely because of their fans. When you have the top four players consuming half of the salary cap, it's not a recipe for winning in the playoffs. The top lines almost always cancel each other out and then it becomes a battle of $4m to $6m players vs $1m to $2m players. This is why there are a lot of great regular season teams that rarely find success in the playoffs. Detroit used to be that team. Even though they didn't have to deal with the cap, they had a lot of great regular season players, but it's a different type of player who shines in the playoffs, and Toronto doesn't have a lot of those players. My personal opinion is that Shanny (and players like him) are the types of players you want on your team in the playoffs. Florida has them. Boston has them. You could watch Toronto's skill players not taking the most direct route to the puck to avoid hits. That's fine in the regular season, but not in the playoffs. I think Shanny was the missing piece for the Wings, but perhaps he doesn't believe that.

Having said all that, Toronto is going to have to give up one or two $10+ million players and replace them with two to four really solid $4/$5 million players, and other than Nylander, I don't think there are any I'd want to see on the Wings team. I really think in today's game, Florida is the model team, and they only have two players on their roster that they drafted. I know they didn't win the cup, but they are built to be in the hunt for a long time.

This is the brutal part. Teams eliminated over the weekend are probably in meetings now. GMs and Coaches are wondering about jobs, but the phones/texts are probably already flying. We do get the occasional “this team sent a note that player x is available”. Once the lottery order is solidified I imagine the traffic will pick up more. Owners are deciding who is losing their leadership gig today

Yzerman loves his tweener 2C/3Cs so Stephenson gets 5 x 5.5m

How about Berggren and Copp ($2.5M salary retained) for Cerelli? Gives Tampa over $2M towards signing Stammer and use him at 2c next season. And Cerelli will be the Wings long sought after 2C. Might have to add a 3rd to that.

Cirelli sucks. Rather just keep Copp.
