If we can beat DET and NYI, then I think 90 points does it, i.e. we'd need 2 points combined from the BOS and NSH games. Those games vs DET and NYI are huge.

Not quite. While the 0 for whatever is the same the PP didn't look the same. It mostly looked good. Had some good looks they just didn't convert. They didn't look like they had their confidence zapped from them for merely being on one hahaha. One of the PP's kind of looked like what we're used to this season, though. Leafs had a chance against on it.

Despite how it looked, results are what matter, and if they converted just once of the 5 times they probably have 2 points and are in the 2nd WC this morning.

To also be fair, Toronto has had a hot PK for a little while now.

I thought they looked decent on it though. They've clearly changed the zone-entry and they've added the bumper play and they generated chances. My only complaint was a few times they passed up good looks to try and make a fancier play, but even on those they mostly did create another chance out of it.

They were super aggressive, quite a different look to most teams. Not sure how that works against teams used to it (e.g. in a playoff series) but the Pens didn't handle it as well as they could have.

It was a little better. Their first couple were decent I guess. More or less, I'm just pointing out they lost another winnable game because they can't score PP goals. When the obituary on this season is written, the lack of PP success should be in the first sentence.

The second sentence should involve an untouchable coach who refuses to practice a vital part the game (3v3).

EK was pretty (frank)ing great last night.

He extended a couple plays with moves at the blueline and was attacking all night. One of his more impressive outings.

I agree the PP looked more dangerous with the 1st unit actually using the bumper properly a few times.

I thought Samsonov played well and made some good saves in desperation.

Mostly just making a comment about our awful PP blowing up the season. The Pens would easily have another 10 points if the PP was just semi-competent. If they were actually good, might have 15 to 18 additional points. It's hard to describe how bad they've been all season. Gave up 11 shorties too.

My only issue with the PP is that it didn’t score despite being out there 5 times. A PP that struggled but managed 1 goal is better than a PP that entered the zone, got chances and secondary chances but didn’t score. The goaltender seeing the puck continues to be an issue.

Glad they have 2 days off followed by 3 home games. They could use some extra rest and a lack of travel.

They're 29th in PP goals for, 31st in SH goals allowed. So, they don't score and they get scored on at nearly the worst rates in the NHL.

They're also 29th in SH goals scored ... but tied for 7th in PK goals allowed, so that has helped offset the PP some, but it's just so so bad.

I’ll take historic coaching blunders where the same thing is tried & repeated over & over until a slither of random success validates staying the course for $200 Alex. 🙃

I still can't get over the hubris of Mike Sullivan... refuses to practice 3 vs 3...

Pens record after regulation: 5-12.

That has to be the worst in the league... right?

Pens are 3-9 in games decided in the OT part (i.e. that don't go to the shoot out). Looks like CBJ are 3-10. SEA is also 3-9 like us.
