Rangers have a real chance to win the East, get home ice and play someone like Detroit, Washington or Philly in round 1 as a second wild card. Really would be huge to hold this spot

Going back to the previous blog…

Jones looks like he’s a solid fit to this defense moving forward. I give the Rangers and especially Jones a ton of credit for being patient and trusting the process. Many times before we would have traded this player at the deadline for a rental. No reason why he can’t be a 3rd pair defenseman regardless of his size. His offensive instincts and his game defensively has matured beyond belief. His confidence is growing with each and every shift. Watching Colorado last night and see how quick and agile Girard is with the puck. He reminds me so much of what Jones can be. I’m extremely happy for the kid and definitely someone who has been an unsung hero here down the stretch. I would keep him in the lineup over Gus when everyone is healthy but don’t think Lavy will do that.

He should be playing heavy minutes the rest of the way. Don’t overuse guys like fox, Miller and Lindgren

So who else is worried about tomorrows game against the Yotes besides me? lol They just put up an 8 spot against the hottest team. Gotta make sure we stay on our toes and dictate the pace of play.

I think the Rangers are 100% going for that presidents trophy and Lavy will do whatever he’s got to do to win these games down the stretch. I think Lindgren was honestly ready a week ago but think they held him back more than we think. The guy is made of iron it’s crazy.

No one worries me right now. Rangers just need to play their game and not down to opponents

Some avs fans/writers are convinced MacK was robbed of his point and I’m not 100% on the rule but it looked like lindgren just straight up shot the puck in under Shesty. That has no business counting as an assist

I always thought if its an own goal the only point/goal goes to the last opposing player to touch it

For all the crap he’s gotten, starting to get more optimistic about Kakko again. He’s had more confidence with the puck the last handful of games, even some little dangles. That’s not something he’s done much of in the past. Could see him having a big postseason.

Kakko looks like a real good 3rd liner who can fill in higher if needed it. I doubt he will be the player we thought we were getting, never know, but definitely a decent player

Exactly. Maybe 25-30 goals, 50 points. Solid at both ends, just need to accept that he is who he is. But every team needs a player like him. At least he won’t break the bank, Drury should lock him up at $3.5 - $4M for as long as he can. Similar to Chytil but should be a bit less.

Pretty sound game. I think, anyway, lol. I didn't start watching until after 1am.
Some weak plays that cost us goals and own zone time against. But, overall we are a confident bunch!!!
One thing that is concerning to me is the return of the revolving door at 1RW. The last 4 or 5 games Roslovic has brought speed and not much else.

I hear ya, especially given our 1st period. But, they really got through to and turned away by Igor in the 3rd. Shots 41-25 is probably always going to give a skewed stat pack on these charts.

I mean igor had to make 39 saves. that's not an analytic, that just a hard cold counting stat.

Agreed. That game resembled a Hurricanes game in that the Avs threw everything to the net any chance they could which skews how charts view games. That game was about as even as it gets between two top teams in the league.

The last four Rangers Avs games have all went to OT/SO

Yeah I get that, but shots are not always "good" shots. Igor was great but Georgi made some great saves too. I dont think it was as skewed as the ASS-O-Meter.

That map below the meter and the map below the numbers on NST are location maps where shots and shot attempts are tracked.
