Thanks Yorkie.

Expected win over a poor team, but I’m loving the physicality from the Canucks. They have really turned up the physical play in the last few games. Hope that’s the plan for the playoffs.

Definitely – they took care of a team they were supposed to. Like that they were more dominant on the defensive side than the offensive side. Better setup for the playoffs.

And agree with the physicality. Playoffs are always tougher so having guys that can initiate contact is a big plus. Getting Joshua back will be great for that... put him in for Aman. Him and Pod on a line would be nice and annoying.

I am guessing Hronek sits next game.

Zadorov is a beast. I will say it again, he should be the priority over all free-agents on this team.

Hearing Jonathan Lekkerimaki is leaving for Vancouver on Sunday, early word he could stay for 8-10 days, then go back to Sweden and try to make it for the worlds.

Interesting...

Are they suggesting he will play hockey during those 10 days?

I wouldn’t go that far but he’s definitely a breath of fresh air. When was the last time we saw a Dman like that on this team? During the 80s 90s?

Thanks York, a decent game, but that PP really needs to get it's act together soon if they want a chance in the playoffs.

No idea. Maybe get used to the facilities, meet the team/coaches? Is he allowed to practice? I'm sure they definitely want to get him in for some team showers to build that chemistry early

Thx NYN

I sort of agree with the old guy on the bike. I like Zardarov a lot. He brings the toughness. He can score and he brings moxie to the team. Juulsen and Myers play bigger since the arrival of Z.

I am not a fan of Hroneks defensive game. If you did trade Hronek and got back a first round pick and a prospect I would look at it hard.

Big Z @ 5x5
Tanev @ 4x3
Myers @ 3x3
Juulsen@ 775 K
Sousy @ 3.25x2 more
Hughes @ 7.8x3 more.

Willander and Pettersson on the farm.

Wouldn’t bother me. Hronek has to get realistic on his contract or expect getting a new address & leave a good fun team.

Something more to that Garland/Hronek scuffle?

My personal opinion is I would keep Hronek under 7 or move on. Not getting crazy on his contract allows you to bring back Z, Joshua Lindholm at a reasonable price and Boeser the following year.

As much as I like Tanev, paying him until he's 38 isn't something I think the Canucks should do. The Hughes-Hronek pairing just crushes teams with possession: they fit well together and Hughes speaks so highly of him. Let's see how Hronek does in the playoffs, I think he's a type of guy to elevate his game.

Possession is a huge part of the game. Podkolzin has not been putting up points but the puck seems to be in the other end quite a bit so he is a guy you keep for now. Not being scored on is a big part.

I agree with the pairing of H/H for the puck possession but think they give up a lot of goals also (not over the top but more than other pairings). Playoffs, you can't make many mistakes or give up a lot of goals or else it would be a short run.

My forgedaboudit price would be 7 mil for him.

He has to clean up his turnovers & D. That alone is elevation.

Not that +/- is the end all, but Hughes is 3rd and Hronek is 7th in the league overall for that. They outscore whatever minimal goals they give up by a large margin. I couldn't find exactly how many goals they've been on for, but their on-ice goal differential is: Hughes +75 and Hronek +28. The next D man is Soucy at +11. (I have no idea if that counts PP or not.)

Sure, they can be better defensively, but that narrative around Hughes needing a steady stay-at-home partner is sort of failing as he's putting together a Norris-caliber season with Hronek.

I think keeping him around 7 would be ideal. 7.5 is what I'm thinking it comes in at.

Sign Z and trade Hronek? If we had a choice who would you keep? I’d take Z but he’s a lefty, righties are hard to come by, I guess they could try him on the right.

Hughes went to MGMT this year and asked for Tanev. He doesn't need Tanev. Hughes is a one man possession machine so I think the plus/minus for anyone that plays with him will be higher.

I like 7 but wont cry if it does hit 7.5
