I actually think he’s a solid skater already for his size. Kid can play and should stay in the lineup
- nyrangers2

I agree. His stride is actually pretty efficient. He gets up and down the ice with no problem. Definitely proving he can be much more than a goon.

Its not his straight line skating and speed that I think needs work, Its his edges and turns that needs work. Ive noticed over the several games hes played, he has blown a wheel when hes changing directions, trying to go left/right getting out of that straight line stride.

Well, let's be fair. It's something akin to turning an ocean liner! Lol
We can ask for improvement, but let's not hold the kid to a uniform standard and demand he skates like St. Louis to be considered good enough.

I just dont want him to end up on his arse any time hes shifting momentum. Whether its taking a slightly wider angle or maybe something in his body weight distribution when turning into it or maybe making an adjustment to his turn stride. Because if hes on his arse, that means theres and odd man rush coming the other way he has to catch up to.

Adam Fox needs 19 assists in last 19 games for a 3rd straight 60 assist season.

Pretty impressive since he most so much time

I feel a little bad that Buchnevich is gonna be 29 years old and will still be stuck on a total of 1 career playoff goal after this season.

Blues GM didnt want to trade him. He will have to wait til next year, where inevitably Armstrong will not get nearly as much as he would have if he traded Buch this deadline.

I think my favorite thing these days is how the internet has brainwashed people into believing powerplay goals don’t count.

In what sense? Is this in some way referencing Kreider in a negative way?

People need to get over it. I will never, in no way knock Kreider's prowess on the PP. However I do use it as a talking point as to why I believe Kreider playing the third line needs to be something they should strongly consider trying. Id like to see what someone like Cuylle, who is more of a shooter than Kreider is, could do playing with Mika since Mika has chosen that he would rather pass than shoot this year.

Do Mika and Kreider give up a lot of 5 on 5 goals when they are out there? I know we absolutely obsess about their production 5 on 5. But I do also know they are out there a lot against other teams top players.

They do have the top two plus minus totals on the team for forwards.

5v5 scoring is something people will never stop talking about until they start doing it. They might not get scored on but other lines do. Since January 2nd, we've had 12 losses. 8 of those losses we scored 2 goals or less. 7 of those losses were losses of 2 goals or less. 2 of those 7 were in a SO and 2 of them were 1 goal losses. Thats a lot of close games. Mika still has no even strength goal since Dec 23rd. Kreider has 9 EV goals since Jan 2nd, which Mika has assisted on most of. But I feel like 9 EV goals in 28 games between the 2 of them is not a whole lot.

Not sure why penalizing Kreider for Mika not scoring would be the answer

As always, great summary Jan!

The tv broadcast was definitely focusing much attention to Rempe. I found it interesting though because I thought Cuylle had one of his best games as a Ranger. He nearly scored twice and had a couple of nice hits.

I wonder what was driving Cuylle:

Was last nights game a result of Wennberg playing with him? Or is it because Rempe is playing so well that Cuylle has to elevate his game? Last night was the first game where Rempe actually had more ice time than Cuylle! This will be fascinating to watch over the next 20 games.

There is no way to penalize/reward one or the other because Bread, Troch, LAF has been playing so exceptionally well that you cant break it up. So the only option is to mix and match with the 3rd line.

I think what hurts Mika and Kreider 5x5 is that neither consistently forechecks below the goal line. Definitely effects Kakko when he is with them. Its his game and he got no help.

I like the new additions a lot.

I see no reason not to roll those same lines tomorrow

We FINALLY have the ability to roll 4 lines consistently through any given game. Took a long time to get there, but it’s imperative we do that to have any chance. Drury set them up nice I think for a long run with that. It’s up to the big boys now

Curious to see how Ruhwedel plays when he comes in. Supposedly he’s petty good all around. Tough to break up the D pairs tho since they are off of a shut out

The rangers played one of their best 60 minute games last night. Why do people want to change the lineup?

Laviolette reporting wants to see people in different spots. Though, that was said Friday after the deals and Saturday am. My guess is no changes tomorrow and with three in four nights, maybe Ruhwedel gets in a game.

All, requesting if there is anything to want me to differently in terms of the team coverage in the blogs or copacetic with what's in them?
