thanks for the blog jan - gave it a speed read before giving my son his late night bottle, but like i said before chris better wake tf up tomorrow.

like you said - i can't believe non of the western teams could beat the 6th 7th and 9th best prospects from the canes, if that's in face what doubas coveted (prospects).

also - ur cell is listed on the bottom of the blog. might want to delete that

Nick Schmaltz from the Coyotes would be a good scoring RW for the Rangers. He's got two more years left on his deal even if the Coyotes retain on him. Not sure if they're even interested in dealing him and they've got enough draft picks right now to last a lifetime.

I heard the deal might have originally included F Reilly Smith (rather than D Ty Smith) and that the Canes taking on Reilly Smith's $5 mil cap hit was the reason for the smaller return -- clearly something the Rangers couldn't accommodate. Ty Smith's cap number is much less than that.

First of all, I truly don't believe that NHL GMs are sharing intimate trade details with Emily Kaplan of ESPN. They may drop some details and/or propaganda to her for media distribution, but many here are putting WAY too much stock in her updates.

Secondly, I don't think Guentzel is resigning with Carolina and he will simply return to Pittsburgh as an UFA. That is the reason why the return in his trade seems a bit light.

We hopefully have an exciting day tomorrow, let's give Drury a chance before we call for his head!

That return for Guentzel is a bit lackluster. A bunch of, as I like to call it, ‘spokes on a wheel’ and conditional picks.

I dont know if it will, but I hope that softens the blow on a trade for, hopefully, Buch or Frankie.

All the talk is speculation on the players involved in these trades. Only a handful of people know for sure what the actual names are that were discussed, and none of those people's primary job is to run to Twitter and let us fools know.

Does anybody really believe that the Penguins would have taken Carolina's offer over the reported offer of Kakko, Othmann, a #1, plus other prospects?

No, so before we roast Drury we have to keep in mind that he obviously did what he thinks is best. It takes 2 sides to complete these trades, and NOBODY really knows the names that were discussed.

That being said, the pressure is definitely on him to get us a decent RW by 2:00. Let's hope he can pull it off.

If I were a PITT fan, I’d be very upset with that return. But since I’m not, I’m very happy about it.

I agree, Dubas has not always been the sharpest knife in The drawer with some of his deal making. Maybe the canes figure they can’t resign him hence the low return. The rangers offer should have blown him away if the reports are right. In the right deal KK will have to go. Sometimes the best deals are the ones not made.

With all of these underwhelming returns deals going down Im glad Drury was smart enough not to include KK or our top prospects. Of course Im all behind getting Mr Happy or Wheels but just for a few conditional picks and lower level prospects.

Let Drury cook. He’s making a pot of sauce right now and it isn’t ready yet.

I have a feeling Pittsburgh didn’t want to help the Rangers under any circumstances and were hard balling them

Someone completely out of left field could be in the cards so let’s wait n see before we lose our minds, and no one has been as impatient as me. He’s got 8 hours to get something done

Pittsburgh not getting a guaranteed first round pick for Guentzel is a big miss by them. They must really love one of those prospects.

I just can’t believe the rangers couldn’t beat that trade. Also for people who say the pens didn’t want to help the rangers, the canes are a rival in the same Division lol. I don’t buy that argument at all

Once again, he was a LW the Rangers need is RW, nobody knows what went on behind closed doors or what was discussed. Could have been a ploy by the Rngers to drive up the price or by the Pens to get the Canes to pony up more.

I agree with you though, the Rangers could have beat that trade so it makes me believe they really didnt want him.

It’s gotta be the prospects. One is a Finnish forward having a great season I know that.

Who knows though. I really don’t know what the equivalent of a Rangers package would have been if you exclude Othmann and Perreault

Drury just didn't want to compete against his nephew I guess.
