just pull the trigger already. Eventually even Jim Rutherford recognizes when he's being played.

I agree they will have the cap space where they could make it work, but its not so simple as Jake + Carter = what you can spend on Jake. Sure, if you want everything below the top line to suck even worse than it did this season you can but that is $9M available to fill TWO roster spots, not one.

EVerything below the top line doesn't have to suck if the GM would pick the right plan. Trying to building a bottom 6 that was defensive oriented so the top 6 could score was a (frank)ing bonehead move. You can get players on the cheap, and get ones that can score but when your goal is to have half the roster not have an offensive pulse -- if the top 6 or PP goes dry, you're (frank)ed.

There’s that but also the PP is more than dry. We require a coaching change on top of stopping this defensive bottom 6 nonsense we’ve been trying for years now

I'd imagine a coaching change is in the works offseason. You aren't going to magically fix everything with drafting and trades. No insult to Sully. You just need to have a change every so often.

Looking at you Steelers org of a decade ago.

Who is getting start in goal tonight? Surprised they didn't get someone from the AHL to play so they could make sure Jarry and Ned don't get freak injured.

So basically the top and bottom 6 suck..Plus Dubas's ego with getting EK and the defensive forwards plan that was used like many years ago...It's time for a rebuild not a retool in this case. And i'm not so keen with dubas"s title and track record in pittbsurgh already.

Correct. I don't understand why the Pens as a whole look at 2015-16 and say "let's go in the opposite direction."

Bruins would or should be all in on that.
I’d assume Bos & VCR would both need to add a pick or prospect back to Pitts.

Can all of the people calling for a full rebuild now be siphoned off into another discussion so the rest of us can deal with reality? That is NOT GOING TO HAPPEN for many reasons. If you don’t understand why I don’t know what to tell you.

hahaha much needed comment IMO.

EDIT: you can add the ones who think Sully will get axed to that as well.

What I just got sent to me pretty much the first thing in 10 days about Jake and some of it’s probably known out there already… “We are out as of now. Sounds like Canes Rangers final 2. Asked for (#2 prospect, #3 prospect, younger 3rd line nhl player and a 2nd) which is crazy to me but someone might pay it”
Obviously had to retract the 3 names in there but gives a good idea of price currently.

If we get Jack Johnson back does that mean we can take his buyout off the books?

Just looked them up on CapFreindly, they have Landescog ($7M) on LTIR. Not that they can't manipulate the system, just an observation.

Can all the people calling for the penguins to win another cup with what they have on the ice the past 8 years be siphoned off into another discussion..I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH...AFTER SOON TO BE 8 years of not making the playoffs IT"S TIME.

The Jagr -> Caps deal was prospect based. How'd that work out?

Dubas: “Hey Sid. We know you’re an NHL legend and you’ve given everything you have to this franchise over the last 18 years and you took less money than you should have to help us sign other players and you’re still playing great hockey but we’re going to have to tear the team apart and rebuild even though we’ve said multiple times that we wouldn’t do that. Are you ok playing the last 3-5 years of your career on a bottom-dwelling team with no shot at the playoffs?”

I think I was in drug school. I had no idea we’ve missed the playoffs eight years in a row
