Need sandpaper in the lineup.
It showed last year and will again this year if no additions are made.
Get what you can from trading DeBrusk, Grz and Forbort. |

It seems like Jake needs the perfect scenario to provide consistent production. Extremely inconsistent and his current price tag I’m comfortable with but a raise scares me and obviously management feels the same way. |

Agreed.
Might not hit 20 goals and on a 40-pt pace.
Does not deserve a raise over what he is getting now.

Tricky thing is what do you do with him?
a) Keep as your own rental and let him walk at seasons end?
b) trade and resign scenario. Package him with another asset to land a better rental.
c) flip him for whatever

Trade him for a player or pick/prospect package. Time for both parties to move on. Same with gryz. I would say forbort too but he is a negative asset at this point with his decline. |

I feel compelled to say that Gryz fits your description of Forbort to a T. Borderline useless at this point. |

Bruins had a 3-0 lead after 1 period right?
And now it's tied at 4-4?

They got the W but keep in mind Eichel and Stone were absent. Still had that much trouble. |

That makes it even worse.
If Bruins can't beat Vegas sans Eichel and Stone they have no business being in the post-season.
Their blowing leads is systemic - it's a big problem - and a lot of this falls on the coaching staff IMO.

I didn't realize the NHL had taken away the Bruins timeouts.
Hey Monty, when you see your team slipping into bad habits AGAIN with a lead, call a timeout and ream their asses! |

Oh and let's ignore the nasty cross-check on Wotherspoon that saw NO response from the Bruins (at least the Bruins got the PP). |

Was thinking the same thing last night. I'd really like to see some emotion from him on the bench besides eye rolls and head shaking. You don't need to be a hardo all the time, but guys need a good ripping every now and then.
I think the issue with this thought process is players today can't take the heat. They shrill up and become shells of themselves if someone wants to hold them accountable. Constructive criticism doesn't go over well with young guys, so coaches are slowly becoming cream puffs in the sense of "I can't say what needs to be said because someone's feeling are going to be hurt, and they might request a trade because of it".
I'm sure I sound like "Old Man Yelling At Clouds", but it kind of goes hand in hand with the direction the league has been going in for the past 5+ years. The new generation doesn't want to play physical. They don't want to fight. They don't like checking. They don't like battling in the corners. They don't like being called out. They want to skate fast, score goals, and not play the body. You can say that's great for growing the game and all (and really, can you? NHL still last in viewership of all 4 major sports), but when push comes to shove (pun intended) and playoff hockey starts, the cream puff hockey gets you a nice first round exit.
Rant over. |

I do understand what you are saying and you are probably correct about many of "today's players" and their psyche so even if you don't chew them out, calling a timeout at least gets their attention (hopefully) and might stem the tide before things go south. Doing nothing clearly hasn't worked. |

One glimmer of hope as far as I'm concerned is at least during the six on four with their goalie pulled we played with a sense urgency and aggressiveness. And surprise, surprise, we got rewarded for it. Hopefully we are turning the corner on this passive resistance/prevent defense in these types of situations. |

Any chance we can message him about a comeback for the playoff run and post season? He should have time to get his game sense back and be healthy for the playoffs. |

A joke of an effort tonight. I know! Let's blend the lines more! That has worked so well in the past. Monty should sit a few games in the press box. This team is swiss cheese right now |

Too many games they've had where team is not prepared. That's on the coaching.
Monty might have a good record with the team but bulk of that comes from last year's historical (regular season) run. I really think it's an outlier.
