Thanks NYN! Yes Canucks keep putting in solid not flashy performances to get the job done.

It’s consistency and will pay off in the playoffs. They are keeping to RT’s system and attention to detail. That gets you through when things go against.

That Juulsen kid is looking good, as is Zadorov and the #3 defenseman, Myers. I wonder what a #3 defenseman goes for these days, about 7 million, is my guess.

Business like approach, just keep moving forward one at a time. I like Lindholm at center and Petey on his wing. They need some time but that could be a good combo going forward.

Juulsen has really stepped up since the beginning of the year. Gotta think Gonchar and Foote really have his ear, and he listens. Good on him.

I think the Canucks are only gonna add depth at the TDL, no more big swings. Rutherford has talked about his time in Pitts just adding a ton of depth for the playoffs. If you list the Canucks D out:

Hughes
Hronek
Soucy
Myers
Cole
Zadorov
Juulsen
Friedman
Woo
Irwin
Wolanin

I think they try to grab another Juulsen type or two. Nothing flashy, just solid.

Not sure If Brisebois will ever return, but he is okay depth. The defense is fine by me, as it currently sits, some big and solid boys back there, plus the 2 midgets.
Would be nice to acquire a bit of abrasiveness for the forward group,

Ya saw him on LTIR and didn't include him. Not sure when he's back.

Another top 6 forward would be ideal... but don't think the market is lining up for that after what they've already done. Some extra grit would be nice, especially seeing Joshua out right now. He won't play on Saturday, either.

The good news is that Lindholm shouldn't get more than Miller. Although should the Canucks have two aging 30 year old centers locked in long term.

Sounds like Woo and why maybe he is getting some practice time against the big boys. See how he fares.

One of the biggest debacles of an NHL contract all time has got to be Connor Brown.

P. BONUS DETAILS: $3,225,000 at 10 games played

They had a chance at 9 games to not let him play 10 games and they didn't. He has 4 points in 43 games. A team worst minus 8.

That has to be one of the worst (frank) ups in league history.

Good piece this morning by Rob Rossi on Jagr and Lemieux as the Penguins get ready to retire Jagr’s #68 this weekend. Also saw a great two minute video on X of some great Jagr moments in Pittsburgh. He was so good. The league should retire both of their numbers so no one else can ever wear them again.

———————————————

A day after Jaromir Jagr scored the signature goal of his seismic NHL career — an inventive, daring dash across the ice while weaving through multiple members of the Chicago Blackhawks before besting Ed Belfour with a backhand shot late in regulation in Game 1 of the 1992 Stanley Cup Final at Pittsburgh’s Civic Arena — Penguins coach Scotty Bowman spotted Mario Lemieux in the players’ lounge. Bowman asked Lemieux how Jagr’s goal compared to any of the many breathtaking ones Lemieux had scored in his career to that point.

“Mario said, ‘Scotty, that’s the greatest goal I’ve seen a player score in my life,’” Bowman said. “That’s from Mario, the greatest player I’ve ever seen.

“Guys like Mario can see it. He saw it in Jagr. And if you ask me, Jagr wanted Mario to see it. That was his hero.”

Good article by Joshua Kloke too…

Matt Cooke, once one of the NHL’s most-hated players, is charting a new path for himself.

Probably why I had never heard of the author. Not sure why someone would post something like that and not at least give a couple quotes.

Kinda like when someone says they like this Finnish kid as a potential 4th round pick then leave it at that.

Why?
I couldn't care less about Matt Cooke. He was one of the most embarrassing Canucks to wear that jersey. Hopefully his new life is "Would you like to super size that order?"

Lefty does have an entire forum related to copy and pasting athletic articles.

Saku's kid? Yeah he's moving up public boards. Even then I wouldn't take him in the 2nd.

Now that Lindholm’s playing on a good team, I suspect he’ll easily surpass the 20 goal mark. Something that wasn’t attainable in that clown-show that is the Flames. Another great trade by Allvin.

Pettersson is on pace for 107 points and I don’t even think he’s been close to his ceiling this year. His peak season might be like 120 points at some point

Did you know, Elias Lindhom has been in the league for 11 seasons, in 7 of those seasons, including this one, he has been a minus player.
In 1 of those 4 seasons, in which he was a plus player, all with Calgary, he was something like + 60
