Flames came out hungry and Markstrom made some timely saves. Bruins seemed disinterested even after Pospisil dumped Marchand in front of the Flames net, not much push back. Canucks up next, they’re leading the west for a reason and just added Lindholm. Swayman better be ready this game, as he looked very beatable vs the Flames.
Top 2 teams, should be a good game.

Never mind the coming out flat stuff this team is soft and not a playoff built type team . Funny this writer Anderson talks about not getting the big save , stop it. If not for the goaltending this team would be nowhere near the top of the standings. Look elsewhere they can’t be great every game.
Read Anderson’s column on Debrusk wanting a new contract and throwing out numbers like 6.5 a year. Ridiculous. He is a good skating, streaky scorer who has played with more intensity than in his history but is a 40 point soft as butter winger. You see his big response when Marchand got decked . Look he is way past the draft potential crap. He is a keeper only at a real good price .
Too many of the same type forwards. Only real in your face players are McAvoy and Marchand. Pasta also . Are those the guys you want to show the way physically ? Never mind fighting. Frederic and Lauko sometimes show spark but you need more for sure.

I wonder how negative you guys would be IF they weren't one of the best teams in the league. Jesus Christ.

I honestly place my gauge on how the B's play against the top teams in the league. Tonight will be very telling.

The negativity about the game on Monday was well warranted. It was poop game. But that doesn't mean this is a poop team. I think we can all agree there needs to be more physicality. Once Looch left they really didnt do anything to go out and fetch someone to replace that toughness.

With Poitras out the rest of the year, I would say they should go after some grit on the back end, and grit in the middle 6. They also will need some scoring help as well. We will see if all that is possible without selling more high value draft capital.

Not negative , realistic my friend. Do you thing they are equipped to beat say Florida in the east etc. Do you think they are as good as their record shows ? I have said over and over they are a good team with noticeable talent in important areas but they have too many of the same type player . Heinen, Boquist, Steen, Debrusk, Geekie, Jvr, Gryz, Shattenkirk, etc. . They all can play but they’re not playoff types. Can’t have a team full of the same vanilla types. Last years playoff team I thought was ready and they got muscled out. Guess if you’re satisfied with regular season success this group is your style. But I have been following the B’s since the 60’s and the cup teams all refused to be denied . Were their toughest when pushed. And all had talent toughness blend.
Not being negative just don’t think this team has that.

Bruins are 2-0 against the Panthers this year.
Matthew Tkachuk has admitted that he wants the Panthers to be as consistent as the Bruins so Yes I think the Bruins can beat the Florida Panthers in a 7 game series.

All the same type of player? I’ll agree that they are all hockey players so yes you’re correct but You listed 7 players and all of them are different.

Lucic was supposed to be that grit. Unfortunately, he (frank)ed that up.

I’m also not saying they couldn’t use some more snarl in the bottom 6 but to say they have no chance at making a run is just incorrect.

They have the system, defense and goaltending to beat anyone.

My kid is a huge B's fan so I watched a lot of their hockey.
They're absolutely a playoff team. Was just a flat game and new Flames came out fast and loose.

A few small adds. Nothing major. This team can win when they play their game. I have a good feeling they will go further than last year. Lessons learned by players and coaching will go a long way. Also not over relying on injured stars to play through the heavy hitting will do wonders.

Wow you like to exaggerate. Never said they have no chance . Anyone that follows hockey or sports knows if you’re in it you can win it. I am saying this team makeup right now is not a Cup winner in my opinion. Also never said big changes are needed. Lucic would make a difference and a tough hard to play against defenseman in addition would change things. Did say that they were a good team with talent in important areas ( goaltending, defense, top forwards). Also did say the 7 players I listed were the same type. No hit, no fight. Disagree ? Also did say the goaltending is the real reason the record looks so good on paper. And it’s not realistic to expect it and rely on it all the time.

Frustration vs negativity I think. The entirety of the team including the coaching staff was subpar vs Calgary. After last seasons end it was hard not to look at the effort and say "There it is" post all star break the other shoe is dropping. For me personally it was the too many men call on another power play. Positive outlook or not, that is not acceptable at the NHL level. I don't see how looking at the bright side reconciles that. It's an issue.
Another issue is their captain takes a blatant head shot and there was no response. At best they score on the PP and make them pay. That didn't happen. The next best would be a physical response. Also did not happen. Bit concerning when they don't play for each other.

Last nights effort however was the polar opposite. You most likely won't see a team like Calgary in the playoffs. The reassuring thing is this team gets up against the other top teams in the league and continues to prove they belong there.

Your last sentence sums it up for me. They step up when playing the better teams. Was it a mistake free game? Not at all. But as a group they played better and that is the team I feel will arrive at the playoffs this year.

I hope I have seen them take the last bench minor on the power play. Those are huge momentum killers and just embarrassing.

So Bruins screw the pooch vs Flames, spank Vanc and then mail it in vs Was???

WTF!

I'd say this is in large part on Monty.
He does not prep the team before games.
