Good stuff 🙏 glad to see the Canucks going for it. Especially with so much uncertainty in the future. Take your shot

Yup, think it's a good shot to take. It also gives Allvin a bit of a backup plan. If Petey doesn't want to sign, you can cover that 2C slot by resigning Lindholm and trade Petey for a haul.

Not that that's my first choice, and I still think Petey will sign, but it's a potential contingency plan.

Yup solid contingency plan and frees up $5.5MM. That could be used for bluegar and Joshua or lindholm if he is a good fit

I'm pumped. It's been so fun to watch the games so far this year and I'm looking forward to seeing how he gels with the team. Engage pom poms!!!

Thanks for blog NYN woke up to the news as well what a great move. Honestly thought Flames would ask for more from Canucks for Lindholm.

Savvy move by Canucks management. They signed extensions so can take a bold risk as well. However, this gives them a lot more options in the off season as well as NYN pointed out.

As for this season a well deserved reward and great fit for the team. RT is a happy man. Sorry Kuz you couldn’t figure out buying into his system.

It was reported the Canucks tried to get Tanev as well but the ask was too high. Guess the Flames will fleece the Leafs before the TDL.

Maybe they just add depth D with the cap space left. As for other moves means someone on the roster has to go out.

Any interest in Colin Blackwell? Kinda small, but he's been a complete wiener to play against ever since he came back from injury. Really good on the forecheck and throws a lot at the net.

I know he's on the Hawks, but might be a reasonable piece for VAN. Your team has been really fun to watch this year. I was at the game when they came to Chicago.

Just hearing about Hunter Brzustewicz not wanting to sign in Canada. If true, this deal is looking much better. It’s still a lot, but if Lindholm can be the player that Hrudey was gushing about last weekend, then I’m excited.

I like that the Canucks paid a high price to kick off this trade season. It’ll make things a lot harder and more expensive for our competitors to add for a playoff run.

I think I we are going to truly go all in here. Guentzel or Henrique are two that instantly come to mind that will help us. Guentzel makes more sense as Rutherford/Alvin seem to take the familiarity route… and not to mention Guentzel is over ppg in the playoffs with a lot of experience and a cup.

We must remember that if we’re even going to play for a cup we’ll probably have to beat Edmonton, Vegas & Colorado. That’s before we get the pleasure of playing Boston, New York or Tampa.

That would be hilarious if it's true. Fox didn't want to sign there, so they traded him and got Lindholm in return, who they traded for another Dman who might not want to sign there...

Do we have the pieces for another big swing tho?

Mgmt has done a pretty good job making trades and keeping our best prospects in the system.

Weve traded a 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th plus Hunter and Jurmo (and Kuzmenko) for Zadorov and Lindholm.

Unless we include Hoglander, Willander, Lekermaki or future 1sts, i don't see what we have to offer for a Guentzel at this point.

York Newbury: Canucks Acquire Lindholm from Flames
- York Newbury

Good morning from the West Coast, (the best coast).

Well pretty impressive from Allvin, signs an extension and completely takes the bull by the horns and gets rid of a player that was struggling in Tocchets system. Now as you mentioned Lindholm is struggling in his own right, but hopefully he can resurrect his game with better players.

Will be an interesting stretch drive for the Canucks.

It's a very good day!

As for Vantel, not going to lie the idea of adding an aging Florida forward to the roster with a very large $$$$ kind of gives really scary nightmares.

Not sure why a guy who decided to go the OHL would not be willing to play in Canada...

I don't think so. Plus, they don't really have the cap space unless they send out Zadorov, Myers, or Miky. So not sure how big of a swing they want to take that won't disrupt the current roster in a meaningful way.

I'm thinking they add a depth piece or two, nothing crazy. They have some depth in the AHL, and Lekky's season might be done before the playoffs so he might be able to play in them too if need be? I can't remember on that.

Dom L and his model, not his own thoughts says that currently Lindholm's market value is 5.3M per year. Kuzmenko's market value is 3.8M per year.
