I don't know enough about the prospects to weigh the value of the return, but I think Conroy did well on a player that has show significant decline over the last two years.

I've never heard of those prospects...
The first rounder will be late and kuzmenko is a salary dump.
And obviously we don't know what other teams are offering, but it's painful to see another trade with a divisional rival once again...

A fresh start for Kuz could surprise you. Hunter B is having a historic type of OHL season. No NHL guarantee but pretty nice ceiling down the road. Jurmo a big great skating D that struggles on D.

To Flame fans don’t see it as quantity but look at it as a retool time scenario ahead. Kuz can score & has slick moves. D isn’t a strength. Jurmo is a project to say the least. Likely an AHLer at best. Hunter B is patience & needs marinading in the AHL to work on D & look at the long term with him. The late 1st I get it but it’s not a weak draft. Going to be on the scouts not Conroy to do well.

Thanks Trevor.

Assuming Hanafin and Tanev are gone.

How many vets are going to want to stick around for a retool?

Kadri has said he is not interested.
You have to think Markstrom will want to chase a cup.
Coleman will never be worth more than he is today.

They can eat $$$ on Coleman and Marky who are not FA’s.

This team could look drastically different next year.

Anderson will be a Flame. Hanifin rumoured to be resigning. That’s 2 top 4D & great beginnings. Zary is looking good. C’s would be the hole needing help. Marky could fetch a decent return.

Sitting 9oa for the draft could further improve. Canucks late 1st for Elias together further helps the possible higher pick for the Flames 1st.

Its a rebuild if the vets are asking to be out.

I mean they are players with NMC so they can simply want to stick it out in Calgary and not go anywhere.

Kadri is up in the air but it's a summer deal if there's one to be done.

If it's just the likes of Lindholm and Tanev gone then not too bad. Some picks and prospects.

Also Weegar is a top 4 as well. Not sure Hanifin resigns, would have happened by now & we absolutely cant allow him to walk for free. So we probably have just Andersen & Weegar as legit top 4 D. But on the up side, we're going to have cap space coming out the ying yang going into next year & Im sure we can find some decent opportunity to fill 1 or 2 of the 2nd pairing spots.

Lindholm is going to be a great addition for you guys. Take out those fcking Oilers please.

Not necessarily. There has been a lot of chatter about Colorado wanting Kadri back. Flames need a centre, maybe RYJO coming back to help with cap & Im sure a deal could be finessed.

That would be a retool in my books, also a possibility! Markstrom signed for 2 more hears, Weegar, a few others. I mean it isn't impossible to make the playoffs this year or next.

Agree with Nighthawk.

Great work by Conroy.

A late first round pick but it is a strong draft and a first round pick is a first round pick.

Kuz had a 74 point season last year and he may bounce back like Sherangovich.

Hunter B. has a good shot at winning the OHL scoring race as a defensemen.

Jurmo is raw but there appears to be some skill to work with.

And throw in a conditional fourth round pick just for fun.

With 9 goals and a lack of lustre in Lindholms' game I think Craig did well.

All the best to Elias. Thanks for some great moments.

Pretty lousy deal for a team still unwilling to commit to a rebuild unless the plan is to flip Kuzmenko right away. Huska had to sell him on joining the team so it's probably not the case.

I doubt there weren't better prospects and/or picks being offered. All they did by bringing in Kuzmenko is make it more likely they're not drafting in the top ten.

Would have liked Willander to be part of this deal but this return certainly looks like more than our frequent troll visitors suggested it would be and Im happy that we added two young D prospects to our stable.
Great video on Brzustewicz Trevor.... elusive, quick, great vision and passing!

Rumored by EF that Brz%*&@&$×whatever wasn't willing to sign in Van that's why he was available. Maybe he is or maybe he isn't in YYC as well. He said it on FlamesTalk on whatever the radio letters/#'s are in Calgary last night. Deal could come down to what they get for him. Can they flip him Ala Fox for another Lindy type? Time will tell I guess. Not gonna lie, the Flames got more than I thought they would for Lindy. But still not a 1st, teams top prospect, plus as some were saying.

I’ve taken to calling him Henry Bruschetta.

He is an American kid.. If that were the case, the Flames have at least a more power in the situation given that he went the CHL route.

Someone is gonna be happy with him eventually. Kid appears to be offensively gifted. Some of the scouting I have heard says he needs some good work on his D. The Finnish kid might not ever come over apparently. 1st and 4th are OK, Kuzy is the question mark. Guy has one outlier of a season and unfortunately it's his BIG season. Only scored 20+ in one other season. Well I guess 2 "?"'s Does Bruschetta sign in Canada/what can the Flames recoup if not, and what actually is Kuzy?

Hopefully Kuzy is worth a first next year.

Him and Sharangovich have a ton of talent. Could see them working well together. Both have sick hands. The Flames will look pretty good in terms of depth as soon as Huska takes Huberdeau off the powerplay and plants him on line four.

That could actually be a decent line if one of Kuzy or Shark can play their off wing. Huberdeau was drafted as a C no? And Shark is listed as all 3 positions. Huberdeau is a natural set up man and Kuzy and Shark have sniping abilities.

Great return for a pouty Lindholm. I’m sure his game will take off in Vancouver as he’ll want to prove that Alvin was right. Kuzmenko gets a fresh start, hopefully playing Right wing with Huberdeau on the left and Sharagovich playing center. Huberdeau needs a right shooting winger to pass to.
Jurmo is a big D but really a b prospect. HB could be a steal if he decides to play in Canada, if not he should bring a nice return. Another 1st is nice, as the Flames need to replenish the prospect pool.
That 4th becomes another 3rd if the Canucks make the western final. Any help the Flames can give the Canucks to help squash the Oilers is a good move imo.
Hopefully this is the start of more trades to come! Get er done Conny!

I love this deal. Kuzmenko was a throw-in on top of the 2 picks to make salary work, and 2 solid prospects (this Jarmo kid could become a shutdown defender in 2-3 years if he keeps developing). I hope we can deal Kuzmenko next year for a 2nd rounder. Also, Hunter is already playing in Canada, why wouldn't he want to continue playing in Canada? He looks to be an excellent prospect. Lindholm wasn't gonna resign with us, and I'm glad. He's not even worth 7 mil per year as it is, and is declining. Great move by Conroy. I hope we move Tanev for a solid prospect and/or pick, even though I like Tanev, but just no point keeping him for 2 more years, even to mentor? Resign Hanifin if he wants to though, or move him by the end of Feb. I"m ok with a deal of Kadri to Colorado for RyJo (for salary) and Bowen Byram and/or Callum Ritchie, and a draft pick if it's Callum Ritchie. Will be interesting.
